THE CRAB SHACK OPENING IN BETHESDA THIS FALL (PHOTOS)

A new restaurant called The Crab Shack will open in the former Zelaya Shoes storefront at 4940 St. Elmo Avenue this fall.

All the ownership is saying publicly, as of this morning, is that they'll be serving the "best crabs in town." That could be a shot across the bow of the Bethesda Crab House on Bethesda Avenue.

What I want to know is, will they be serving Maryland blue crabs? There is no substitute!

By the way, wasn't there a Crab Shack in downtown Bethesda some years ago? I'm almost positive there was.

WATCH YOUR STEP AROUND BETHESDA ROW - LITERALLY! (PHOTOS)

I sense a sidewalk theme today!  I promise this is the last sidewalk story today, but it's an important one.

A sidewalk project has begun around Bethesda Row. Unlike the controversial sidewalk retrofits left unfinished by the SHA all over town, this work goes beyond just intersections.

Right now, portions of the sidewalk are being replaced along Bethesda and Woodmont Avenues.
I bring this to your attention, because I witnessed a woman trip on one of these yesterday on Bethesda Avenue.  Fortunately, she was able to regain her balance, and did not fall.  But these can be dangerous, particularly with the larger crowds of shoppers this week.  Someone could get seriously hurt, or even killed, depending how they land on a hard surface like that.

SPECTACULAR HALLOWEEN FALL DISPLAY AT WESTBARD GIANT IN BETHESDA (PHOTOS)

FREE PINK
LEMONADE
THIS WEEKEND

Another Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row Exclusive

I noticed that the Giant on Westbard Avenue had a much more elaborate Halloween/Fall display than the Bethesda Row Giant.  The Westbard Giant continues to celebrate its Grand Reopening.

This Saturday and Sunday, you can get a FREE cup of pink lemonade between 12 and 4 PM, and win pink pastries from the bakery section.

For now, enjoy these photos of the fabulous display outside the store, as we are officially in Halloween season:
