World of Beer sets opening date in Bethesda (Photos)

World of Beer on Bethesda Avenue will open on Monday, April 3, at 11:30 AM. Located in Artery Plaza, the restaurant and bar will have outdoor patio seating along Bethesda Avenue, despite its 7200 Wisconsin Avenue address. Here is a sneak peek inside, and you can see there will be many flat screens around the interior. World of Beer promises 500 beers on tap and in bottles and cans, always a challenge under the Montgomery County government liquor monopoly, which was left in place after County Councilmember Hans Riemer's failed "nighttime economy" initiative crashed.

Bethesda construction update: World of Beer (Photos)

Slowly but surely, build-out of World of Beer continues on the Bethesda Avenue side of Artery Plaza. It's looking pretty reminiscent of the Rockville location, with the red brick wall sections, and wood paneling along the lower part of the walls. World of Beer is expected to open this month.

Bethesda construction update: World of Beer (Photos)

The second World of Beer in Montgomery County is well under-construction on the Bethesda Avenue side of Artery Plaza. An arch was removed to make more room for outdoor seating.

Is it possible to sell 500 beers at once under the Montgomery County government-controlled liquor monopoly scheme? Indications from the Rockville location in Yelp reviews are that the answer is, for now, no. Perhaps if we pass term limits in November to throw the bums off the County Council, and end the liquor monopoly, we can get all 500 beers at World of Beer in December 2018.

Bethesda construction update: World of Beer (Photos)

Here's a Bethesda demolition project that has created a scene reminiscent of a Greek ruin on Bethesda Avenue. The long-planned removal of an arch alongside the Artery Plaza building is underway, in an effort to create a larger patio dining area for the vacant restaurant space inside.

When the project was first proposed, owner JBG was still seeking a tenant, but we now know that World of Beer is the restaurant that will eventually open here later this year.
