World of Beer, a restaurant and bar that promises to carry a selection of 500 beers at all times, will open a Bethesda location in late 2016. A spokesperson for the chain confirmed the plans, but could not yet officially disclose the street address of the restaurant.
A source tells me it will be in this Artery Plaza space along Bethesda Avenue, where landlord The JBG Companies has promised to bring "Bethesda's next great restaurant."
Just coincidentally, work to remove the exterior arch there to create more space for patio seating began last week.
Their new Rockville location is scheduled to open in mid-April according to their landlord, Duball, LLC. It will be fascinating to see if the 500 beer selection can be pulled off under Montgomery County's antiquated government liquor monopoly system.

I blame Hans Riemer!
"The reports of [Bethesda's] death are greatly exaggerated." All these cool openings must be driving Dyer nuts.
World of Beer sucks. That said, this news has me more excited than most of the other recent openings.
What's wrong with World of Beer? I'm not familiar.
Their spokesperson seemed happy to tell other news outlets the address.
I certainly hope one of those beers is Amstel. It is a shame our country club serves it yet so many of Bethesda's bars are not refined enough to offer it.
@3:52 PM - I believe World of Beer locations are franchises. So the service you receive at one location might not be the same at others. For example, the World of Beer in Balston does not serve food but allows people to bring in food. Looks like the Rockville and Bethesda locations will serve food.
@ 5:25 AM The Ballston location definitely does serve food.
Thanks Hans!
@6:25 AM - This is 5:25 AM; thank you for the update. Last time I was at that location was maybe two years ago and they did not have food then. I guess things changed?
Robert Dyer waits for Bethesdans to get drunk, then he sucks their blood out.

5:20 quit your bitchin about some damn Amstel crap no one drinks but you and your country hicks. 5:25 food in MoCo is a must or no go.
This is almost a resurrection for the old Montgomery Grille (sigh), what a place. They had nearly fifty beers on tap, and back in the day that was a lot. What goes around comes around full circle. According to a reliable media source The WoB in Rockville will open in mid-May NOT April Dyer.
7:46 AM - Actually, according to MY sources, as recently as last month, they were still planning for a mid- April opening, but only now have pushed it to mid-May.
@7:28 AM - Could be, I've only been to that location within the past two years, so yeah must have changed.
Isn't Weichert in that spot?
