Escape Quest opens in downtown Bethesda

Escape Quest, a new escape room business at 4936 Fairmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda, has now officially opened. They are offering reservations, and walk-ins, for 60-minute games where a team of players attempts to escape a puzzle-filled room. A sign out front displays the times available for walk-in players.

More signs of Escape Quest in Bethesda

More signs of the long-delayed Escape Quest escape room are visible at 4936 Fairmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda. New signage has been stenciled on to a brick wall at the entrance, and a knight chess piece is on display.

Sign installed at Escapology at Pike & Rose

The permanent sign and door stenciling have been added to the front of Escapology, coming soon to 11572 Old Georgetown Road at Pike & Rose. Like another escape room business in downtown Bethesda, this one has been severely delayed in opening, so it's encouraging to see some activity here.

Escapology to open at Pike & Rose

Escape rooms are continuing to pop up around Montgomery County, but Escapology will be the first to open at a new, "town center" development. Pike & Rose will be the first such development to lease to an escape room in the County. Escapology will be located on Old Georgetown Road, next to the NAVA Health & Vitality Center.
Escapology's escape room games will host up to eight players at once. The first game being offered at the Pike & Rose location is Antidote. Set in 2015 in the Nevada desert, the game challenges you and your teammates to find the antidote to a biological weapon virus that has infected everyone inside a secret facility - after a clumsy member of your team accidentally releases it. Locked inside the contaminated facility, you must locate the antidote and escape before the facility self-destructs.

Escape Quest finally moving forward on Fairmont Avenue

Escape Quest - it's not a story of Bethesda residents trying to escape 24-hour construction, but rather a new escape room attraction at 4936 Fairmont Avenue. Its opening has been long delayed since I broke the story about it in April.

Now there are signs the Alexandria-based company is again moving forward. They have applied for a liquor license with Montgomery County. Their hearing is scheduled for October 18 at 11:00 AM.

For the uninitiated, escape rooms are a game set within a themed room where players must use their wits and puzzle-solving skills to figure how to get out within a time limit. Escape Quest's existing King Street location has rooms based on a lost Mayan temple, a pirate ship, and even a serial killer's "secret lair."

Perhaps a serial killer can bring some life to dead Fairmont Avenue. Escape Quest's Alexandria location has earned the title of "Best Date Night Ever."

Escape Quest escape room to open in downtown Bethesda

Bethesda is getting a second escape room. Following last year's opening of Xcape Alive in the Westwood Center II mall on Ridgefield Road, Alexandria's Escape Quest is expanding to downtown Bethesda. Escape Quest will be located at 4936 Fairmont Avenue. Escape rooms have become a popular tenant in retail spaces where redevelopment is pending.
