Taste of Bethesda 2019 Photos

Wind gusts whip the Taste of Bethesda
banner across Norfolk Avenue
Saturday morning
Yesterday's weather was not bad, if a bit on the blustery side, resulting in another successful Taste of Bethesda event for 2019. This year's edition included some new entries, including the intriguing Leo & Liv, opening soon at The Bethesdan Hotel at 8120 Wisconsin Avenue. Also spotted was a booth for Montgomery County Council District 1 member Andrew Friedson. This was also the first year for Casa Oaxaca, at 4905 Fairmont Avenue.

Taste of Bethesda 2019 set for October 5

New Bethesda hotel
restaurant among
participating eateries

Taste of Bethesda 2019 has been scheduled for Saturday, October 5 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. This is the 30th anniversary of downtown Bethesda's largest annual event. Admission to Taste of Bethesda is free. Tickets will be sold on-site; tickets are $5 for four tickets and each taste costs one to four tickets. Parking is free in public garages nearby, and the free Bethesda Circulator bus will be operating throughout the event.

I have just received the latest list of participating restaurants from Bethesda Urban Partnership, and downtown Bethesda's newest hotel restaurant is on it. Leo & Liv will be opening in The Bethesdan Hotel (formerly the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel) this fall.

Other first-time participants will include Casa Oaxaca, Lotus Grill & Bar, and Poke Dojo. They'll share the event with some of Bethesda's top, award-winning dining destinations, including Duck Duck Goose, Chef Tony's, Jaleo, Medium Rare and many more.

Live entertainment across 5 stages this year will include 8 Ohms, Caz Gardiner, Chopteeth, Heather Aubrey Lloyd (2019 Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards winner), Mary-El, Moonshine Society, Sweetnova and Patrick Alban. The cultural music and dance stage will present Dynamic Dance Team, Furia Flamenca, Rhythmaya Dance, Soul in Motion and Tepua Hio Hio.

Another Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row Exclusive

Only about 48 hours ago did we hear that Equity One had purchased the Westwood Complex on Westbard Avenue in Bethesda.  The crown jewel of that property is the Westwood Shopping Center, home to the Westbard Giant since 1959.

The transaction process revealed that the Giant's lease expires in 2019 (they renegotiated the old one that expired in 2058).  At that time, Giant may be gone forever, and the shopping center may be torn down.

But for now...

The Giant continues to celebrate its recent Grand Reopening, and is holding a Fall Festival inside the store this weekend.

So get ready to party like it's 2019 Saturday and Sunday, noon-4 PM.

Enjoy FREE apples, apple pie, kettle corn and pumpkin muffins!

Make your own caramel apple!

Spin the Prize Wheel!

Crafts and games!

With 7 years left, let's make the most of it while we can.
