Cosi closes at Bethesda Row (Photos)

Cosi has closed at Bethesda Row. And what a way to go. The restaurant was most recently in the news for being the place where a woman's wallet was swiped. But Cosi the chain has been in the bad-news pages of business sections this week, as well.

The day this Woodmont Avenue location closed, the Cosi company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in  federal court, after being unable to resolve a dispute over a collateral agreement with creditors. Twenty-eight other Cosi locations also closed nationwide this week.

If Cosi was your regular sandwich spot, I would recommend the BLT+A sandwich at the new Modern Market around the corner on Elm Street, or Panera Bread a block away on Wisconsin.

A diner at Cosi at Bethesda Row on August 18 hung her purse on the back of her chair while eating. When she left the restaurant, her purse was a bit lighter, but she didn't know it until she got a call from her bank. Her credit cards had just been used fraudulently at Westfield Montgomery Mall and Target to purchase $12000 worth of merchandise.

Checking her purse, she found that her wallet was missing. Using surveillance footage, Montgomery County Police detectives identified a suspect in the case. They have now released photos from that footage, and are asking for the public's help in determining her identity.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest in this case. To be eligible for a reward, tipsters must call Crime Solvers. BETHESDA ROW SIDEWALK SALE PHOTO GALLERY 2013

Day 1 of the Bethesda Row Sidewalk Sale found many bargains to be had from boutiques around the Row.

$25 and $50 pieces at Ginger, $6 scarves at lou lou and more hung from racks up and down Bethesda Lane.

Dolcezza and Cosi were among the establishments serving up emergency cool-down refreshments for shopping overheated by weather or fashion fever.

The sale continues today and tomorrow.

VALET PARKING NOW AVAILABLE AT BETHESDA ROW

Federal Realty has come up with a great idea to reduce at least some of the parking frustration at Bethesda Row.

Now that we are entering the peak season for outdoor dining, the closure of Lots 31 and 31A are really having an impact on parking.

For that reason, Valet Parking is now available all week, from 5-11 PM, in front of Cosi at 7251 Woodmont Avenue.

This is especially useful for date nights when you have a reservation, and there's just no readily-available place to park.
