Stately Grosvenor Mansion at 10100 Laureate Way in Bethesda could now be yours - for, well...a price not being publicized by Broad Street Realty. The 11880 SF historic summer home of Gilbert Grosvenor has, sadly in my opinion, been used as office space in recent years. Grosvenor is widely considered "the father of photojournalism," having served as the first editor of National Geographic magazine.
Grosvenor has other landmarks to his name, including Grosvenor Arch in Utah and Gilbert Grosvenor Hall in Canada, but this is one you can actually buy. The mansion has significant landscaped grounds, but the property has been encroached upon by the Montgomery County cartel via a new residential development approved a few years ago. The Montgomery Way!
An avid adventurer and advocate for the national park system, Grosvenor would likely be disgusted by the cartel's efforts to pave over the entire county with asphalt, steel and concrete. Did you know that the official scientific name for Monkfruit - a small melon grown in Asia - was coined after Gilbert Grosvenor? Try to find Siraitia grosvenorii next time you are shopping at Whole Paycheck.

GROSVENOR WILD ACRES DEVELOPMENT PUBLIC HEARING JANUARY 9
The public will have a chance to speak on-the-record about the EYA development proposal for the Wild Acres property, which includes the historic Grosvenor Mansion. Wild Acres was home to Gilbert Grosvenor, the founding publisher of National Geographic Magazine. The property could become populated by over 140 townhomes, which are expected to sell for well over $1 million apiece.
A public hearing will be held on January 9 by the Montgomery County Planning Board. Currently, the hearing is scheduled for the 9:00 AM morning session. But always check the planning board website for agenda and hearing time; agendas are subject to change.
