HOUSE FIRE IN HILLMEAD AREA OF BETHESDA (PHOTOS)

A basement fire has 50 Montgomery County Fire and Rescue personnel on-scene in the 6900 block of Hillmead Road in Bethesda. MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer says it may be a gas-fed fire. Power lines are also down, and Piringer says both related utility companies have been called in.

All occupants of the home have been evacuated.

Scanner reports indicate significant extension of the fire, likely due to the gas. The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad reports a 2nd alarm being called for.
