New parking spaces, meters in Woodmont Triangle of Bethesda

New parking spaces have been painted on the curb lane around the new Gallery Bethesda II luxury apartment tower at 4850 Rugby Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Meters have also been installed, and people are now parking there. These will come even more in handy once there are restaurant and retail tenants in the ground floor of the building, but are also useful for guests visiting either Gallery Bethesda apartment tower.

Donohoe's Gallery Bethesda II apartment tower expected to open late summer (Photos)

The lights are on, but nobody's home at the future Gallery Bethesda II apartment tower at 4850 Rugby Avenue in Bethesda's Woodmont Triangle. I have some night shots mixed into this construction update to show the interior lighting. The latest news from the building's management firm, Vantage Management, is that delivery is currently on-target for late summer.

Other new details include apartment features like GE Energy Star appliances, Kaindl plank flooring, Moen bath fixtures, Modern West End Collection six-panel interior doors, keyless entry, and built-in USB charging stations in the kitchen and bedrooms.

Gallery II will include 219 units and a generous 12425 SF of retail and restaurant space. Developer Donohoe is aiming for tenants that will draw foot traffic to the plaza Gallery II shares with sister building Gallery Bethesda, compared to the tenant-focused retail in the first building. In fact, the curved corner of the building at Del Ray and Rugby is anticipated for a restaurant use.

Donohoe is also the construction firm for the project, which was designed by WDG Architecture. The award-winning original Gallery Bethesda was the first post-Great Recession project to deliver in downtown Bethesda, and still holds the record for fastest lease-up of this generation of luxury buildings.

Bethesda construction update: Gallery II luxury apartment tower (Photos)

The Donohoe Companies' Gallery II remains on track for a late summer 2018 delivery at 4850 Rugby Avenue in Bethesda. An official website for the sister building to the Bethesda-based company's Gallery Bethesda tower is now online. It was created by Vantage Management, which manages both towers.

As you can see, a lot of glass is now in place on the lower half of the tower. Much facade work has been done on the lower levels, as well.

The vision for the ground floor of the building is a greater emphasis on dining and retail that will draw foot traffic to the development, as opposed to the retail in the original Gallery, which is more oriented toward services for residents upstairs. Such tenants will be needed to activate the already-completed plaza public space the two towers will share.

Bethesda construction update: Gallery II (Photos)

Here's another belated construction update from the Woodmont Triangle in Bethesda. Donohoe's Gallery II, the sister residential tower to Gallery Bethesda, is far into the construction process. Both buildings share a pedestrian plaza. The recent completion of the new Bethesda police station across the street leaves the Rugby Avenue construction spotlight on this, and a second Donohoe construction job, the Brightview Bethesda.
