Ernesta opens at Bethesda Row

Ernesta
opened at 4816 Bethesda Avenue at Bethesda Row yesterday. The upscale, custom rug showroom is only the company's second, following the success of its flagship location on Manhattan's Upper East Side earlier this year. It's also the latest addition to a line-up of home decor and housewares brands assembled by property owner Federal Realty that has made Bethesda Row a major destination for residents seeking to redesign and refresh their indoor and outdoor living spaces.

The team behind Ernesta includes three co-founders of Peloton. Former Peloton CEO John Foley has made clear that he anticipates duplicating the success of that company, switching gears from home fitness to home decor, but is hoping that this venture will sustain its value longer. Ernesta's selling points are not only the materials employed in each carpet, but also the custom sizing options available.

Ernesta's Bethesda Row debut coincides with the company's launch of its new Trade Portal. The online portal provides design professionals with tools to identify and order the perfect type and size of rug for their clients.

"Our Bethesda showroom is a step forward in Ernesta’s growth strategy as we expand our reach into the thriving design communities of Maryland and Washington, D.C.," Ernesta Chief Sales Officer Jennifer Parker said in a statement Tuesday. "This new showroom will be a hub for both design enthusiasts and professionals to connect with our brand and receive expert guidance."

Farrow & Ball to open Bethesda Row store

Farrow & Ball,
a U.K.-based paint and wallpaper brand, will open a showroom at Bethesda Row this December, property owner Federal Realty announced this morning. It will be located at 7118 Bethesda Lane, next to Simon Pearce and The Shade Store. Like those neighbors, and several other recent additions to the development, Farrow & Ball will provide yet another option for those seeking to update their home design and decor.

The showroom will offer sales, color consultations, and decorating inspiration and advice. Operating in Dorset, England since 1946, Farrow & Ball has developed an international reputation for wall coverings of rich color and the highest-quality materials. This will be their second location in the area; Farrow & Ball currently has a showroom in Friendship Heights.

It looks like the antique shop that has moved around the Woodmont Triangle over the years is moving again. Antiques are popping up inside the vacant Bethesda Scooters and Boards space at 4825 Fairmont Avenue at Veterans Park. Sneak peek at Serena & Lily at Bethesda Row (Photos)

The construction wall in front of Serena & Lily on Bethesda Lane was removed Thursday. Now we have our first view of the facade and interior of the store. The California-inspired home goods chain is one of the few retailers that might get a boost from people having to spend more time at home during the pandemic.

Serena & Lily to open at Bethesda Row

Federal Realty has found another tenant to help fill the former Redwood space on Bethesda Lane at Bethesda Row. Serena & Lily will open a 3524 SF store next to future Bethesda Lane tenant Hawkers next spring. It will be the luxury home goods retailer's first D.C.-area location, according to Federal Realty. Bed and bath, furniture, home decor and lighting are among the product lines the Sausalito-based retailer will offer in Bethesda.
"We’re excited to have Serena & Lily open its first DC-area brick-and-mortar shop with us, joining the many other new retail and restaurant concepts in the neighborhood,” Federal Realty's SVP of Leasing Stuart Biel said in a statement this morning. "Bethesda Lane has always been an iconic part of the neighborhood, and we’re confident Serena & Lily will be right at home there, providing the greater community with a sought-after home, décor and design destination."
