Thieves returned to the parking garage at the Westbard Square development in Bethesda on Monday for the first time since June. Montgomery County police responded to a report of property having been stolen from a vehicle in the garage at 11:55 AM Monday, September 1. That is within the typical midday time period that thieves have favored for smash-and-grab activity inside the garage, which is located in the 5300 block of Zenith Overlook.
After the last theft incident on June 16 at 11:30 AM, Westbard Square property owner Regency Centers announced it would be installing security cameras inside the garage, and that police would have direct access to that surveillance footage. No thefts had been reported in the garage since then, until Monday. Whether the new cameras have led to an arrest in this case, or will provide an image of the suspect(s) that police can release to the public to facilitate such an arrest, has not been made public as of this writing.

Not a big deal, we are suffering from our 'elected' leader in the WH scaring the wits out of a marginalized segment of our society. It's all driven by poverty IN OUR Nation's Capitol.
Can they figure out a way to stream the video directly to officers who may be nearby or at least to the station? You say direct access but does that mean real-time? Reviewing footage is helpful in finding the crooks. But perhaps technology needs to be stepped up here just a bit further if possible.
5:56 - So Trump wasn't elected? Second, Marc Elrich and the 100% Far Left Dem county council is not to blame? Blame Trump. That's nice.
Got that reversed as people in those marginalized neighborhoods have been interviewed saying how much difference the reduction in crime has made in their daily lives. 5:56 on the other hand lives in a relatively safer neighborhood and along with those upper NW liberals would rather have "those" people suffer than admit that Trump is doing the right thing.
Exactly ! 5:56 Trump made them smash the window.
Reviewing real-time video of parking garages? Because the Montgomery County police officers don't have enough to do during their shifts as it is?
1:05 - Missed that point entirely.
Once again JAC is WAC!
7:41- Not sure what WAC means but is DC not fact in fact now safe? Did not the DC mayor even make public comment praising their efforts? Why yes, she did.
Weird activity in the apartment building next to Bowlero Bowling. The folks then use the parking lot opportunity to smash and grab. First, look at this apartment building, second make sure that there is cameras are placed all over the Westbard garage. Talked to the Maryland Liquor store about the change in the neighborhood. It is such a shame. Get the apartment building under control first! Be safe everyone!
The issue isn't Trump, the "far left" or "marginalized neighborhoods," it's the fact that the parking area ISN'T safe and that it's only a matter of time before someone breaking into a car assaults a shopper or a driver. I park in that ramp a lot and have never seen a police officer in there. Putting in security cameras is fine, but if Regency is serious they ought to spend money and hire off-duty MoCo police to patrol the ramp.
Stop with the Trump Derangement Syndrome. Crime is a problem that has been swept under the rug. The black community is loving it, look at the news, it's all old white liberals pushing back against it. Stop with the bs, we're done with crime.
It is pretty obvious it's locals, and likely kids safe from prosecution. Our cops are too busy with recruitment and outreach and getting private gigs using county cars.
We're definitely not done with crime until the MD electorate decides to have that epiphany that connects soft on crime policies with reality. Not holding my breath.
Look at all the white liberals who are protesting the federal crackdown in DC while the residents of of those affected neighborhoods are celebrating being able to walk the streets at night without being a victim. TDS has got all of these democrats, (check out Elrich's latest newsletter), on the wrong side of every 80/20 issue. Hilarious if you don't live in MD, NY or IL.
