Custom Ink relocating in downtown Bethesda

Custom Ink
is moving in downtown Bethesda. It has cleared out its current storefront at 7029 Arlington Road at Bethesda Row. Custom Ink's new location will be at 7200 Wisconsin Avenue, in #500-82. An opening date for the new custom printing store has not yet been announced. It's possible that the vacant storefront could be combined with the unit next door, which was just leased by New Balance, to create a larger retail space.

Redesigned plaza at 7200 Wisconsin Avenue opens (Video+Photos)

The remodeled plaza at 7200 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda reopened to the public Tuesday. Also known as Artery Plaza, the property is nearing the end of a massive renovation by owner JBG Smith. Work continues inside the lobby.

The plaza redesign is an effort to revive its use as a public space. Some of the large hardscaped areas you see are for outdoor dining space, as JBG Smith attempts to lure another restaurant to the property. You may notice the surfaces are very slick, but that was due to the torrential downpour that occurred early last evening.

Bethesda demolition update: Artery Plaza (Video+Photos)

The front courtyard demolition continues at Artery Plaza at 7200 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Much of the work has been done at night to avoid impacting pedestrian and automobile traffic during business hours. Artery Plaza courtyard to be demolished at night

A contractor for developer JBG Smith plans to demolish the external "courtyard" in front of Artery Plaza at 7200 Wisconsin Avenue at night. This is part of an ongoing project to update the property, and attract new tenants. If successful, part of the area in front of the building could again be an outdoor dining patio, as it was for a now-shuttered restaurant in the past.

The demolition is scheduled to begin on June 20. Nighttime work will take place Sunday through Thursday nights from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Residents of The Seasons are likely to be those most-directly impacted by the noise, along with those in The Darcy.

Coworking space signs lease at 7200 Wisconsin

Industrious, a New York-based coworking space provider, has leased the entire fifth floor at 7200 Wisconsin Avenue. Property owner JBG Smith recently renovated the building's exterior, and added restaurant space that attracted World of Beer to Bethesda Avenue.

The lease is for a total of 28082 SF in the 12-story, Class A, LEED Gold-certified office building. CRBE assisted JBG Smith in the deal, which gives Industrious its second D.C. area location. The first is at One Thomas Circle in the District.

“We are pleased to welcome Industrious to 7200 Wisconsin Avenue, accommodating their growth in the region as they open their second Washington area location in our building,” JBG SMITH Executive Vice-President David Ritchey said Tuesday. “We would like to thank the Industrious team, along with Brad Wilner of CBRE, for their collaboration and partnership.”

JBG Smith has been on a roll in the last ten days, despite Montgomery County's moribund economy, bringing Orano USA on-board as a tenant at its under-construction 4747 Bethesda Avenue office tower. Industrious will move in this summer.

Bethesda construction update: World of Beer (Photos)

The second World of Beer in Montgomery County is well under-construction on the Bethesda Avenue side of Artery Plaza. An arch was removed to make more room for outdoor seating.

Is it possible to sell 500 beers at once under the Montgomery County government-controlled liquor monopoly scheme? Indications from the Rockville location in Yelp reviews are that the answer is, for now, no. Perhaps if we pass term limits in November to throw the bums off the County Council, and end the liquor monopoly, we can get all 500 beers at World of Beer in December 2018.
