Apple Store, As Kindred Spirits reopen at Westfield Montgomery Mall; Microsoft Store Surface Studio pre-orders

The Apple Store has reopened at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, just days ahead of the biggest shopping day of the year, Black Friday. On display inside the expanded store is the new MacBook Pro with Touchbar. As you can see in the picture below, it is no less crowded, but at least is now more comparable in size to the popular Bethesda Row location.

Also returning to the mall is gift shop As Kindred Spirits, now in the space outside of Nordstrom on Level 1 recently vacated by GameStop.

Microsoft Surface Studio

Not to be outdone by Apple, the Microsoft Store - across from Starbucks on Level Two - is gearing up for holiday shopping by offering pre-orders for the coveted Surface Studio.

As Kindred Spirits, a jewelry and gift shop that also raises funds for humanitarian causes, has opened at Westfield Montgomery Mall. The store also carries home accessories and apparel.

Meanwhile, a space has become available across from Best Buy Mobile, around the entrance to the Dining Terrace.

A journey that began at a now-demolished airport will continue at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, when As Kindred Spirits opens later this summer. Speaking of journeys, Journeys is moving to a new location within the mall, and their (re)opening appears imminent.

As Kindred Spirits owner Rukmini Walker began selling jewelry, gifts and home accessories with a kiosk in the now-demolished Stapleton International Airport in Denver. After moving to the DC area in 1994, she opened stores in Congressional Plaza and Reagan National Airport. This summer, As Kindred Spirits will open at Westfield Montgomery.

The shop will continue Walker's tradition of using her business to raise funds for environmental, humanitarian and women's causes here and abroad.

Meanwhile, shoe and apparel retailer Journeys has vacated its central location for a new spot within the mall. Employees were stocking the shelves at the new location Monday evening, and it appears the store might open very soon.
