Framarini's opens in Bethesda

Framarini's is now open at 4931 Cordell Avenue in the Brown Building in downtown Bethesda.  "Framarini's is a modern yet traditional barbershop catering to men of all ages," the barbershop says in promotional materials. "We offer high-quality haircuts, beard trims, shaves, and grooming services in a welcoming and stylish environment. Our goal is to create a go-to grooming experience that builds customer loyalty and community engagement. Where we cut above the rest." 

You can see that the interior is more upscale than your typical barbershop. Operating hours for Framarini's are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM Tuesday through Friday, and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturdays. The shop is closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Sinatra's Gentlemen's Barbershop opens in Bethesda

Sinatra's Gentlemen's Barbershop is now open at 7026 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Licensed master barber Frank Ortiz worked in local barbershops for more than a decade, before leasing a salon space at the Collection at Chevy Chase in Friendship Heights. Now he has upgraded to his own storefront on downtown Bethesda's main street. Look for Sinatra's next to Town Jewelers.

Sinatra's Gentlemen's Barbershop is opening soon at 7026 Wisconsin Avenue, next to Town Jewelers, in downtown Bethesda. Licensed master barber Frank Ortiz worked in local barbershops for more than a decade before leasing a salon space at the Collection at Chevy Chase in Friendship Heights. Now he is upgrading to his own storefront on downtown Bethesda's main street. 

The barbershop is expected to open by the end of the month, if all goes according to plan. Hours of operation will be 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM seven days a week.

8K Barber Shop sets opening date for new Bethesda location

Earlier this week, I reported on the construction progress at 8K Barber Shop's new location at 7830 Wisconsin Avenue in the Fairmont Plaza condo building. Now the shop has set an opening date of March 1, 2022. Until then, they will be open at their current namesake location, 8000 Wisconsin Avenue.

Interior fit-out of the new 8K Barber Shop location at 7830 Wisconsin Avenue appears to be in the late stages. Barber chairs and sinks have been installed. 8K will be moving here from its namesake current location at 8000 Wisconsin.

The sign is up at the new location of Hannah's Barber Shop at 4825 Del Ray Avenue in downtown Bethesda. It is moving here from 8007 Norfolk Avenue due to the construction of a condo building on its original site.

Hair Cuttery sets reopening date at Bethesda Row

Those self-inflicted quarantine haircuts may be coming to an end for the daring among us. Hair Cuttery at 4818 Bethesda Avenue has been shuttered for the coronavirus lockdown, but are now sharpening their scissors for a reopening later this week.

The shop will reopen this Thursday, June 18, 2020. They'll start taking reservations tomorrow, June 16. Call 301-656-0760 to schedule an appointment. Hair Cuttery's new hours at Bethesda Row will be 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily.

Boardroom Salon for Men coming to Montrose Crossing

Men in the White Flint area will soon have another barbershop and grooming option. Boardroom Salon for Men will be opening a location at Montrose Crossing shopping center. The upscale barbershop has spread to 40 locations in 5 states since it began in Texas. At Montrose Crossing, it will fill the last vacant space in the property's newest Rockville Pike-facing structure between Slapfish and the AT&T Store.

In addition to haircuts and other salon services, you'll find complimentary beverages, chessboards, pool tables, televisions, dark wood paneling and plush leather chairs designed to create an upscale environment. Hannah's Barber Shop confirms plans to move to Gallery Bethesda II

Hannah's Barber Shop, currently operating at 8007 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda, has now publicly announced it will be moving into the Gallery Bethesda II at 4825 Del Ray Avenue this fall. As I reported back in May, the move will take place sometime in October, when construction of the new barbershop is complete. So keep going to the Norfolk Avenue location until the moving date is announced. Hannah's was the first retail tenant signed at the new Gallery Bethesda II.

A new barbershop has opened in downtown Bethesda. Citizens of Bethesda Barbershop is located in the ground floor of the 8200 Wisconsin Avenue apartment tower. You can see a list of services and prices below. The American flag is a nice touch.

Hannah's Barber Shop could be first retail tenant at Gallery Bethesda 2

A source tells me Hannah's Barber Shop will be one of the first - if not the first - retail tenants to move into the ground floor of the brand-new Gallery Bethesda 2 luxury apartment tower at 4850 Rugby Avenue. The fit-out of the space is expected to take about five months. So until then, keep reporting to Hannah's existing location for your haircut, at 8007 Norfolk Avenue.

Sign installed at new Bethesda barber shop

The permanent sign is up at Joliena & Jenny Styling barber, the new barbershop opening soon at 4912 Del Ray Avenue in downtown Bethesda. You can see how much progress they've made on the interior since my report about a month ago. Walls, flooring and the barber counter are all in place, and now so is the sign.

Joliena & Jenny Stying Barber is coming soon to 4912 Del Ray Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Master barbers Joliena & Jenny may be able to fill the void with the recent closure of 18|8 Fine Men's Salon on Wisconsin Avenue. The shop's interior fit-out is currently underway.

Citizens of Bethesda Barbershop will open soon at 8216 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda. This is the space most recently occupied by the Photography Center of Bethesda between 8200 Wisconsin and the Bethesda Medical Building.

Owner-operator David Gonzalez will offer "modern style with an old soul." Patrons will find modern styles and classic razor techniques in a clean and professional space. It's good to see the street-level retail along this stretch getting a jolt in the arm from businesses like this and Red Bandana Bakery.

A&B's Barbershop grand opening in Pike District today (Photos)

Over the last few days, in addition to being Bethesda's leading news source, I'm also the leading source of news on barber shop openings. Today, it's A&B Barbershop at 11520-D Rockville Pike, in the Pike District of North Bethesda. To celebrate their grand opening today, they're offering a $12 special. Walk-ins are welcome. And yes, they can give you their vaunted "fohawk."

New barber shop opens at The Shops at Sumner Place

Six months after the closure of Spiro's Barber Shop, a new replacement has opened at the Shops at Sumner Place in Bethesda. When I stopped by, there was only a generic sign saying "Barber Shop" outside the door. Inside, there is a sign with no less than four different barber shop names on it.

The name isn't important if you're looking for a haircut in the Sumner/Glen Echo Heights neighborhood, however. The new barber shop is inside the mall, across the hall from Acqua Nails - which, coincidentally, had been offering barber services one day a week.

Acqua Nails to offer haircuts Thursdays during Spiro's Barber Shop closure in Bethesda

If you live near the Shops at Sumner Place, and don't want to travel out of the neighborhood for a haircut while Spiro's Styling and Barber Shop is temporarily closed, you're in luck (and likely in need of a haircut, now that Spiro's has been closed since January). Acqua Nails in the same shopping center has announced barber Joliena will offer haircuts out of their salon on Thursdays only, until Spiro's reopens. Spiro Hallas passed away in late December, but there is some hope the barbershop will reopen in the near future.

ROOSTERS OPENS AT BETHESDA ROW (PHOTO)

Roosters Mens Grooming Center has officially opened at 7135 Arlington Road at Bethesda Row. Located between Lebanese Taverna and the Upstairs at Bethesda Row entrance, Roosters is offering upscale barber and shave services, with a nod to the old school barbershop. Roosters is the second male-centric business to open at Bethesda Row, following the opening of men's apparel store Bonobos on Bethesda Avenue.
