Wentworth Gallery reopens, Elite Jewelers coming soon at Montgomery Mall

Wentworth Gallery, an art gallery featuring works by celebrity artists, has reopened at Westfield Montgomery Mall. The gallery is located on Level 2, right outside of Nordstrom.

Coming soon to Montgomery Mall will be Elite Jewelers. The chain features GIA-certified diamonds, handmade Italian 18k gold and platinum jewelry, and high-end watches like Movado, Bulova and pre-owned Rolexes. Elite Jewelers will be on Level 2 near Auntie Anne's.

Lucy closes, Pampillonia Jewelers to open at Bethesda Row (Photos)

Lucy Activewear has cleared out of its store at 7112 Bethesda Lane. As I previously reported, all Lucy stores nationwide will be closing by the end of 2017. However, the company says their Rockville store at Congressional Plaza hasn't closed yet, and is directing their Bethesda customers there.

Replacing Lucy will be Pampillonia Jewelers, which currently has a store in Mazza Gallerie. Pampillonia is a family company spanning six generations. Before establishing their reputation in the D.C. area, they gained fame as the personal jeweler to King Victor Emmanuel of Italy.

Pampillonia creates and custom-designs jewelry, and also will buy yours. without an appointment. I've been hearing of a possibility that Lucy's next-door neighbor Morley might slide down to the Lucy space, with Pampillonia moving into their current spot.

Town Jewelers relocating to new Bethesda location (Photos)

Town Jewelers isn't done yet in downtown Bethesda. The jewelry store's old location at 7017 Wisconsin Avenue is currently being renovated into a restaurant space. But they will reopen soon in a storefront right across the street, at 7028 Wisconsin Avenue. That was previously the home of Royal Dry Cleaners.

Town Jewelers holding moving sale in Bethesda

Town Jewelers at 7017 Wisconsin Avenue is having a moving sale. All jewelry is 50% off, which is better than a lot of the actual going-out-of-business liquidation sales recently, to be frank. The sign doesn't say where their new location is going to be.

Princess Jewelers closing in North Bethesda

After 27 years in North Bethesda, Princess Jewelers is closing at 11520 Rockville Pike, in the Metro Pike Center. "Everything must go," with all items now 50% off in a Going Out of Business sale.

Some items will be as much as 70% off. The sale will run from now through December 31. They'll be open every day except Christmas Day. Their other locations will remain in business after this one closes, according to the store.

B.F. Saul, the owner of Metro Pike Center, has plans to redevelop the property into a mixed-use town center in the coming years.

Window that burglars drove through at The Jewelry Exchange in Bethesda is repaired (Photos)

A bold set of jewel burglars crashed their stolen Mercedes Benz E350 through the front glass at The Jewelry Exchange at 7747 Old Georgetown Road in downtown Bethesda in late September. Taking whatever they could grab, they fled the scene in another getaway car.

Now the glass has been replaced after part of the front had to be boarded up. The store also has their Christmas decorations up.

Kneipp plans October opening in Bethesda; Kay Jewelers reopens (Photos)

Kneipp, the chain offering natural German bath and body treatments, has now announced its new Westfield Montgomery Mall boutique will open in October. They've got some new Coming Soon signage up.

Already open now, and also on Level 2, is the new location of Kay Jewelers. Their old location in the mall is now walled off.

Kay Jewelers is moving to a slightly larger space on Level 2 in Westfield Montgomery Mall. The jeweler's current mall location is still open.

In other mall news, the former spot of Lobster ME in the dining terrace is advertising a "food, film and fun" event, Taste 2016, to be held on August 14.

O'ROURKE JEWELERS CLOSING IN BETHESDA AFTER OVER 45 YEARS (PHOTOS)

Amidst the barrage of Ronnie Mervis and "Jewelry Exchange in Bethesda!!!" ads, it's sometimes easy to forget the quieter jewelers in Bethesda - some of whom have been around for decades. O'Rourke Ltd. Jewelers is one of those. Sadly, they will be closing their doors (or should I say, door?) at 7950 Norfolk Avenue for good on January 31. O'Rourke has been in business here for over 45 years.

Their space will now be up for lease, on a block that has seen tremendous change south of the store. Part of the older structures that line the block was demolished to make way for the Norfolk-Cordell II building, which now houses Smashburger, rooftop restaurant Roof, and - next month - a Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins store.
