The Cashmere Sale pop-up opens Sunday in Bethesda

The Cashmere Sale
, a pop-up shop featuring men's and women's cashmere apparel and accessories, will open tomorrow, Sunday, October 20, 2024 at 7770 Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda (across the street from the Tastee Diner, and between Starbucks and Black's Bar + Kitchen). Founded two decades ago in a Greenwich, Connecticut living room, the seasonal shop has since expanded to 17 coastal towns and cities. Greenwich is still on the list.

The Bethesda store will operate through December 13 this year. Operating hours will be 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Saturday, and 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sundays. If you prefer to shop from home, you can use the code BETHESDA2024 to receive free shipping on your order. Of course, the advantage of the pop-up shop is that you can see and feel the product in-person, if you've been burned in the past by a cheap and scratchy sweater you've ordered on the internet.

The Cashmere Sale sells only products employing the superior double-ply strand count of cashmere. The brand's mission statement is, "We pop up just when you need us for a limited time at irresistible prices."

Pop-up store deals on sweaters in Bethesda

As cold temperatures hit the area, I heard there is a pop-up store on the 3rd floor of 4733 Elm Street offering special deals on 100% cashmere sweaters for men and women. This is in the building that also houses Gusto Italian Grill; enter from the Elm Street side.

DORMIFY KIOSK AT BETHESDA ROW GETS LOCAL COLLEGE STUDENTS READY TO MOVE IN (PHOTOS)

The Dormify pop-up kiosk that, well, popped-up this weekend on Woodmont Plaza at Bethesda Row, aims to fill a tiny part of the vacuum of one-stop college dorm shopping in Bethesda.

In most cities, getting ready to move into your college dorm means going to Bed Bath and Beyond, Target and/or Walmart. All 3 big box stores are currently in dorm season with promotions and sales. Two out of the three have stores not that far away in south Rockville.

But we're told that we're supposed to drive less. Yet county politicians and planners have stymied big box retailers from coming to Bethesda, even though many of them have smaller-scale, urban store designs elsewhere in the country.

So shopping for dorm living requires a creative approach in Bethesda. You could find many things at stores like Strosniders, Bruce Variety or Bradley Party & Variety, Staples, CVS, Urban Country, Radio Shack (Westbard Avenue), etc. And you can drive to Montgomery Mall, as well as to the aforementioned big box stores further out the Pike.

Dormify specializes in decor, and seems to skew more towards female students (#SororityGirlProblems, glittery pillows, etc.). The kiosk does provide an easy way to pick up some dorm room decorations while dining or shopping at Bethesda Row. It's definitely worth checking out if you're a female student getting ready for campus living next month. They also have a website with a larger selection at Dormify.com.

BETHESDA SCOOTERS AND BOARDS VOWS TO OPEN AGAIN NEXT SUMMER

Bethesda Scooters and Boards, a pop-up shop that operated over the summer on Norfolk Avenue, is closing its doors.

But maybe not forever.  In a message posted to customers "and their pets" (a dish of dog treats remained out front Monday, evidence of the shop's dog-friendly policy), BSB concluded, "see you next summer."

It's certainly likely there will be another "in-limbo" storefront slated for demolition, but ready to house a pop-up shop for a few months, next summer in Old Town Bethesda.

BSB was a novel shop at the right time, when municipalities like Ocean City, MD are revisiting their skateboard and longboard policies, in light of the current trends of alternative transportation.
