Sidewalks proposed for Brixton Lane in Bethesda

Montgomery County is considering constructing sidewalks along Brixton Lane in Bethesda between Greyswood Road and busy Fernwood Road. The street is located in the Stratton Woods subdivision.

A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 7:00 PM at Ashburton Elementary School at 6314 Lone Oak Drive in Bethesda. If you cannot attend the meeting that night, you can email comments regarding the sidewalk proposal to DTE.Sidewalk@montgomerycountymd.gov.

Sidewalk detour in front of future Dean & DeLuca store in Bethesda (Photos)

There's been some kind of utility work going on in front of the future Dean & DeLuca store at 4735 Bethesda Avenue over the last few days. A sidewalk detour has been set up for pedestrians.

Sidewalk reopens at Solaire Bethesda project (Photos)

The sidewalk on the Wisconsin Avenue side of the Solaire Bethesda luxury apartments officially reopened Monday. Unlike some construction sites in downtown Bethesda, a covered pedestrian walkway had kept this passage accessible during the lengthy construction period, but you'll notice the new sidewalk is now further back from the traffic on Wisconsin.
When it opens, the Solaire will have 139 apartments, and a True Food Kitchen restaurant on the ground floor. A fall delivery is expected. The Solaire is being developed by the Washington Property Company at 7100 Wisconsin, the former site of Eastham's Exxon.

BETHESDA SIDEWALK REPAIR UPDATE (PHOTOS)

After belatedly restarting work on downtown Bethesda sidewalks, the MDSHA is finally making some progress.

Unfinished sidewalk construction has bedeviled pedestrians up and down Wisconsin Avenue since the summer.  Trip-and-fall surfaces abounded, and dangerous jaywalking was encouraged in spots.

Now, as these photos demonstrate, bricks have been laid at the corner of Fairmont and Wisconsin.  Other spots remain in shabby condition. Let's hope all of this is finished by the Inauguration, to spare us further embarrassment when tourists pour into our fair city.

SHA EXPANDS CONTROVERSIAL BETHESDA SIDEWALK CONSTRUCTION TO OLD GEORGETOWN ROAD (PHOTOS)

Even as citizen complaints continue regarding dangerously-unfinished sidewalk projects on Wisconsin Avenue, the Maryland State Highway Administration is starting a similar project on Old Georgetown Road at Woodmont Avenue.

One has to wonder why additional ADA retrofit projects are being started, when uneven-surfaced, unfinished projects still await completion elsewhere in town.

UNFINISHED WISCONSIN AVENUE SIDEWALK PROJECTS CONTINUE TO DRIVE DOWNTOWN BETHESDA RESIDENTS CRAZY (PHOTOS)

I continue to hear many complaints from downtown Bethesda residents regarding the Maryland State Highway Administration's unfinished sidewalk projects on Wisconsin Avenue.
Stay classy, Bethesda

The jagged edge - watch your step!
The work has been going on for months now.  I've seen county contractors do one of these ADA retrofits in 2 days, in contrast.
Don't trip on that currrrrrb!!!
These photos were taken last week.  I can't recall a sidewalk project that was partially finished, and then just abandoned like this.
