Just a quick update on the saga of the Bethesda Market at the Shops at Sumner Place on Sangamore Road: I went by on Monday night, and there is a liquor license application for the future market that will take over the space that belonged to the now-defunct Bethesda Market.
While the name of the new market was not announced, the liquor license sign touts the name as... Bethesda Market.
Since applicants have to state the name of their establishment on the application, this would suggest the new market operator is going to revive the old "Bethesda Market" name.

The new owners of the business are keeping the name "Bethesda Market" as locals are already familiar with the place and the business name. The business is going to be a beer, wine & deli hence the name also works well with it.
Sounds like a good idea, as the prior market was popular in the community.
bethesda market (the old one) got me through grad school...and the owner, ken, was such a great guy. i really hope the new place is just as awesome. thanks for updating us all! :)
It sounds so far like the new market will be providing the products, deli sandwiches and tastings the old one is remembered for, so I am definitely optimistic at this point. Thanks for reading!
