NEW BANNER TOUTS THE DARCY, LOT 31 RETAIL/RESTAURANT TENANTS IN BETHESDA (PHOTOS)

Construction continues at a rapid pace across from Bethesda Row, at the future site of The Darcy condos and The Flats apartments. A new banner touts the luxury condominiums of The Darcy, and retail/restaurant tenants that will be coming along with the development on the former Lot 31/31A parking lots. The Flats building is not promoted, but most of the ground-level retail and dining tenants listed on the banner are actually in The Flats (with Passion Fish being the exception).

I still don't get this "Silver" concept. What exactly is an "upscale version" of the "classic American diner" genre?

I'm guessing that it's going to be like what the new Anthem restaurant downtown did with the old Hot Shoppes items - same old menu items but ridiculously oversized and ridiculously overpriced.

They are planning some "slightly" more expensive options on the menu, but still have some base sandwiches, etc. at the same price as Silver Diners.

There's also a bar, which is new to Silver.

Thanks for clarifying, Woodmont.

Bar + diner is an interesting concept. Diners are famous for "after-bar" and "morning-after" eating, so that sounds like a great idea. You could spend 24/7 in such a place. Maybe they can get a special exception from the liquor laws to allow them to sell booze in the morning?
