Flower Child restaurant to open at Wildwood Shopping Center

Flower Child, another healthy dining concept from the creator of True Food Kitchen, is coming to Montgomery County. Fox Restaurant Concepts has leased spaces at Wildwood Shopping Center in Bethesda, and at 10016 Darnestown Road in Rockville. Flower Child's menu consists of trendy vegetable and grain-based bowls, plates and wraps, with the option to add chicken, steak, salmon or tofu.

As expected, there is an emphasis on organic, non-gmo and superfood ingredients. Salads, and a short starters list with hummus, soup and avocado toast round out the menu. Beverage selections include local craft beer, wine and, of course, kombucha.

What you fail to mention are two critical aspects to this. First, as the guy at Buredo told me yesterday, the side entrance by the bank will be completely shut off for 6 months. Secondly, they are not adding additional parking rather this earthy, crunchy place plus another retailer yet to be announced. These folks are already hurting from this, some will go out of business completely, and more shoppers will avoid what for years had been a really nice center. It's a nightmare and getting worse. Oh and by the way, the jackass that allowed an abortion doctor in his medical building is adding another building right behind it. That'll really makes things flow better. Not.

The MD economy is good and businesses do want to come here. The point here is just not at Wildwood. Put up a parking structure if you're going to add all these new businesses in an already jammed center

5:58 they are adding new parking spaces but they are ALSO adding two new businesses at the Buredo end of the mall (extending the center's structure)--including this one, which will only jam the joint up more than it already is at lunch. It's going to suck bigly. I feel so bad for Buredo--they are trying so very hard and the parking situation is killing them.

Ok but they can't be adding that many parking spots with these new places being built out. Buredo is pretty good but I agree, they are hurting with all this. Basically, these new additions (adding a few more spaces aside) are going to ruin this center that's been a local favorite since I was a little kid.

As Yogi Berra might have said, "It's going to be too crowded, no one will go there anymore."

Wildwood may have to begin charging for parking to prevent commuters from parking in the lot all day - there are times when none of the stores are crowded and the lot is full.

Buredo is doing badly because their concept is not great. It's not a parking problem.

4:25: Hear, hear! That's what I'm running for the County Council on - green space and *real parks* required for new development. Better tree preservation laws. There should be a park within a quarter-mile of every home in Montgomery County.
