Massive work to begin at Marriott site next week (Photos)

Just as Purple Line construction is ramping up, and two cranes have been erected at the 7900 Wisconsin project, Marriott is getting the green light to begin its complex headquarters project along Wisconsin and Woodmont Avenues. Disruptive underground utility work that will cause temporary sidewalk and lane closures will begin May 30. There will be no signaled pedestrian crossing of Wisconsin Avenue between Norfolk Avenue and Old Georgetown Road on the west side of the street, according to a Marriott press release.
Then, on June 18, sidewalks and lanes will close along Wisconsin, Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues for an eight-week demolition process. Once again, there's no indication that the impotent Montgomery County Council will enforce its laws regarding sidewalk closures during construction. Demolition will include the shell of the Bethesda Court Hotel, Tako Grill and the Blackwell Building.

Actual construction of Marriott's headquarters, which is merely relocating downtown from the Rock Spring area, will start in July. Moribund Montgomery County hasn't attracted a single major corporate headquarters in two decades.

"#Resist?" This is the Montgomery County
Council, so more like, #Capitulate

"There will be no signaled pedestrian crossing of Wisconsin Avenue between Norfolk Avenue and Old Georgetown Road on the west side of the street"

Why should there be? There never has been a signaled pedestrian crossing there, and there is nothing left on the east side now between Tastee Diner and Original Pancake House and Peets, and the Safeway is now gone. Really, how much demand is there to cross between Original Pancake House and the Lionsgate?

7:42 AM You're desperate to be the next Eugene Matusevitch. Read up on him in the Post today, being charged with harassing communications. He only sent 25 messages, you've posted more harassing messages than that here.

You sound just like Matusevitch. Like him, you obsessively harass Robert Dyer, have sought his personal information and want to harass and threaten his family.

Maybe you want to go to jail?

Judge: "So why don't you just shut down comments on your blog? Case dismissed." {gavel slam}

8:57 AM The judge didn't tell the police officer to change his address, phone, email, etc.

We have the next Matusevitch in our midst here. Very similar with the daily harassment, obsession with family members, seeking personal information, etc. Same profile.

Dyer won't file charges because all of his sockpuppet comments would be exposed.

Anyway, what about the street and sidewalk closures at the Marriott site?

Really, Anonymous man using the name Boyce Bowles? You read the article(s) and came away with it being exactly like the guy posting here?

What about the fact Matusevitch's harassment was against a police officer who had cited him for an illegal turn in Bethesda that he went to court for and was still fined $50? How is that the same?
What about the fact Matusevitch HIRED someone to get the sensitive info which included the officer's SSN?
What about the fact that Matusevitch did the same thing to an insurance agent in the past?

And he didn't get sentenced to jail. Probation only.
"The punishment does not include jail time, which is consistent with many “harassing communications” misdemeanor cases." - WaPo

Typical hyperbole, with a touch of henny-pennying thrown in.

9:11 AM -
Are you insinuating that the same person posting here is sending harassing text messages to Dyer's cell phone?
Using Dyer's social security number to sign Dyer up for things like rehab facilities or mental health facilities?
Making harassing calls or sending messages to Dyer's family?

Harassing messages posted here = the same thing as Matusevitch. The profile is the same- the same daily compulsion to post harassing comments, the same obsession with family members and personal information.

Just some fair warning not to go down the same path as Matusevitch. You can't harass daily like he did and think you'll stay out of the courts.

10:11 AM Publically saying you hope something bad happens to someone probably isn't a good idea. Just sayin.

11:03 AM You're Matusevitch all over again. Knock it off.

Let's not hear a litany of whining about sidewalk closures in the area again. This is going to happen whether you like it or not. DEAL WITH IT.

It's not about the litany of whining it's about major disruption and traffic headache while these projects are being built up.

2:23 PM, deal with it, that's the price of progress.

@9:39 Sure the county has an enforcement role. MCPD officers give tickets to people jaywalking or speeding on Wisconsin Ave -- a state road.

We are entering a period of unprecedented demolition and construction in our downtown.
Cranes will stretch from Cordell down to the Bethesda Ave/Wisconsin site that Robert Dyer recently reported will be redeveloped.

I don’t see how that can be true, Boyce. I have it on good authority that Bethesda is quite Moribund. I guess Mr. Dyer must be inventing all of these stories about development.
