La Madeleine suddenly "temporarily" closes in Bethesda

La Madeleine has been closed for the last three days at 7607 Old Georgetown Road in downtown Bethesda. The owner says the closure is "temporary," and due to "an emergency maintenance issue."

While there is a redevelopment planned for the restaurant property, the plans for that have not even been approved by Montgomery County yet. It would literally be impossible to break ground on that project before later in 2019 at the earliest, so if the restaurant were to permanently close now, it would not be because they're kicked out for the development.

Why are you just reporting on Monday morning that they've been closed since Friday?

Looks like one of your readers gave you a big hint, but you not only ignored it, but deleted the comment as well.

I love that. "Suddenly, temporarily". Why don't they ever just admit that they're out of business? That building is already going to be yet another sky scraper

Meanwhile in EastMoCo, the homicide rate for 2018 has spiked sharply, but hey...there is a new Pepsi drink machine on Colesville Road.

"kicked out for the development"

The La Madeline owners aren't being "kicked out." They no longer want to operate the restaurant.

There were WSSC workers entering the restaurant on Friday. It looked like it was a sewage issue.

Did Federal Realty "kick out" La Madeleine from Pike & Rose?

We can't see this place from our windows, so this is news.
