Public meeting set for Oct. 9 on Capital Crescent Trail crossing alternatives

Planners will present several options for an improved Capital Crescent Trail crossing on Little Falls Parkway at a public meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 6:30 PM at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School at 4301 East-West Highway. Following Montgomery Parks' controversial temporary "road diet" solution, the project proposes to create a safer permanent crossing for trail users.

Three alternative options will be shown at the meeting, which were culled from twelve options based on feedback from the public at the first project meeting this past summer, and online comments.

Most people ride or walk the trail in the daytime.

I hope the County will tip their hand and reveal that this is part of the work to extend the Purple Line to Westbard and points beyond, in order to encourage Amazon to build their second headquarters where the decaying old shopping center is now.

How about a HAWK (pedestrian-activated) traffic light? This way, cars will get a clear red light to stop, but it will only go that way when people press the button.

Can you repost the three alternatives that will be discussed?

8:09: I don't believe they've been made public yet. I checked the official website for the project, and did not see them posted as of this morning. If I am incorrect and someone can point me to a new document, I will be glad to post them.

8:09: However, here is the list that they are going to pick the final three options from, in this report from the summer meeting:
