Destruction on Arlington Road in Bethesda (Video + Photos)

A demolition crew made short work of a set of single-family homes in the 7500 block of Arlington Road on Friday. It's the end of an era for that remnant of what used to be a single-family home neighborhood, but has been redeveloped over time due to its close proximity to the Bethesda Metro station. Yesterday's demolition was to make way for the future Maizon Bethesda apartments.

Perhaps you could have included renderings of the proposed design.

2:01pm I thought you liked the construction worker in the Village People

The correct term used in the building industry is demolition, not destruction, which is normally reserved for natural disasters. Buildings aren’t voluntarily destroyed, they are carefully demolished, often pre-sorted for recyclable and salvageable materials, and removed from the site.

7:33: The correct term is used in the article. Headlines have their own job to do, and the piles of debris and rubble certainly qualify as destruction on Arlington Road. Trying to find any irrelevant detail to criticize is the hallmark of a troll.

Robert knows more about construction than anybody.

Why are comments not allowed on yesterday’s Windsor Fashion piece? Nice to see another small business opening in the county.

The use of “destruction” in your headline is clearly inflammatory in nature, a comment poorly used to express your negative point of view on this positive project. Click bait as a lame attempt to lure readers to your skewed attitude about the ill’s of development. Holy cow, destruction on Arlington! A tornado? An explosion?

Nothing was destroyed. Older single family homes, long used as a rag tag assembly of offices, are being demolished to make way for a beneficial, higher density project.

You seem to take pleasure trying to deride every good thing that is happening in this town. I have heard the term “balloon popper” used as someone who constantly seems to take pleasure on looking at everything with a negative attitude.

Why not describe the benefits of this higher density, well located project, instead of leading off with tales of destruction?

9:32: I have not criticized this project. If anything, it is too small given its ultra-close proximity to Metro. Capturing photos of dramatic neighborhood change and a large swath of demolished homes is hyperlocal news at its best.

I call everything like it is. The reality is that very little positive news is occurring in Montgomery County right now. Only an obsequious shill could find anything inspiring about our elected officials and their current, disastrous policies.

9:20am I'd advise against posting threats here such as your promise that Dyer will "get what he deserves"

Gee, just what Bethesda needs, another luxury apartment complex. What’s the vacancy rate now? Oh, but build it and they will occupy!
