Bethesda construction update: Edgemont II (Photos)

Excavation is now underway at the site of the future Edgemont II high-rise, at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Edgemoor Lane. You wouldn't even know how far they've progressed if you didn't look from the Edgemoor side of the property, as you can see in the bottom photos here.
A junior-senior duo of excavators were hard at work at the property. Big excavator and small excavator were each doing their part to prepare a new section of underground garage, which will be accessed from the existing garage under The Edgemont next door.

Thanks for the update.

I think it is clever that the are expanding the two underground levels, connected by tunnels, and avoid adding a new entrance and exit ramp. They are also sharing the existing loading dock between he old and new towers. I still think it’s unfortunate that they aren’t adding evena token amount of retail along Woodmont. It seems that the planning department could have made this a part of their approval. This would have helped connect Bethesda Row with the Woodmont Triangle districts along a family well traveled path.

The bold modern architecture of the new tower will be a nice addition to this curving section of Woodmont. I’m looking forward to some nice terminated vistas along the pedestrian pathway.

Washington DC's only entry is Donald Trump, and he's not going to be there much longer.

The planners let Woodmont Avenue to forever dark between Woodmont triangle and Bethesda row. Such a shame. Literally right next to metro.
