Purple Line substation to be installed in East Bethesda December 13
The installation of a traction power substation for the future Purple Line light rail system will require lane closures on Montgomery Avenue in east downtown Bethesda on December 13, 2023. Watch for flagging operations that day on Montgomery Avenue between Pearl Street and East-West Highway. The lane closures are anticipated to occur between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. This date could change due to inclement weather.

Let me ask a stupid question: Is the Purple line going to be ''stand alone," meaning the cars go back and forth but are never on the existing Metro rails?
The Purple line trains will not run on Metro tracks. The train will connect to Metro at a variety of stations (College park Green Line, New Carrolton Orange Line, Silver Spring Red Line, Bethesda Red Line). And riders will be able to transfer (although there will likely be some partial fee given that the Purple Line is run by the state of Maryland and the Metro by Metro).
Just an over budget money vacuum political vanity project that will never see projected ridership.
It will allow the criminals who don't have a stolen car the option to either carjack one in Bethesda or use the two choices of transportation, red or purple.
I look forward to East -West transit that does not entail a detour to DC.

6:04 - Couldn't have said it better. And did you notice that Wes Moore has committed to fund the Red Line in Baltimore? Very few ride their current light rail. Let's pay for another one.
@12:31 Try the J4. Runs reliably and didn't cost the taxpayers a billion dollars.
Any reports about power outages in the neighborhood that day/for this project? Thanks.
Where does one really need to go over there for from Bethesda?
