Hello Betty sets opening date at Pike & Rose

Hello Betty, a new restaurant and bar inside the Canopy by Hilton hotel at Pike & Rose, has set a grand opening date. The "surf and skate-inspired" restaurant on the second level of the hotel will open April 8, 2022, the company announced this morning. Menu items will include sustainably sourced peel-and-eat shrimp, fire-roasted crabs prepared in an open flame oven, fish and chips, and a classic crab boil.

A centerpiece for Hello Betty will be the patio boat bar, which is made out of an authentic, retired 40' Delta Deadrise boat that was hauled in - and up - to the deck. It will debut this summer. Drinks will include Hello Betty's signature Orange Crush. Although the company behind the restaurant is based in Denver, blue crabs and orange crushes are very much local favorites for those who vacation in Ocean City.

“We couldn’t be more excited to open Hello Betty in Pike & Rose, sharing a taste of board culture with the neighborhood," Hello Betty Bethesda General Manager Ryan Zemel said in a statement. “Hello Betty is casual, laid back and full of fun, promising exceptional service and fantastic food.” The indoor dining room will seat 138, and the patio can seat 167, including 23 at the boat bar.

Canopy by Hilton takes coronavirus message to heart at Pike & Rose

The Canopy by Hilton hotel at Pike & Rose is temporarily closed, like many hotels nationwide, due to the coronavirus pandemic. Upper floors of the building are still lit up because they comprise the 930 Rose condos atop the hotel levels. But some of the otherwise dark hotel windows have been lit up, Visiting Hours-style (ironically), to form a heart at this stressful time.

A man-made window pattern was topped off by the light of the moon over the hotel last evening. Hilton's website explains what the current reservation timeline is, and what policies the Tysons-based chain has modified or introduced to deal with the coronavirus pandemic.

Sweetgreen to open at Pike & Rose

Federal Realty has signed another big name to its roster of restaurants at Pike & Rose. Fast casual salad concept Sweetgreen will open between Burger Fi and Sunday Morning Bakehouse on Grand Park Avenue.

The restaurant will be in the ground floor of the Canopy by Hilton hotel/930 Rose condo building. Speaking of which, the Canopy hotel is really going full steam now. When I was at Pike & Rose this past weekend, cars unloading luggage at the front of the hotel were backing up down Rose Avenue toward Grand Park Avenue.

License plates included New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. And not necessarily the hip crowd the hotel is targeted toward, but families with kids, and the general tourist types. So it seems the hotel has become really popular since its opening in March. Canopy scores 4.5 out of 5 on TripAdvisor, 4.4 on Google Reviews, and I can't find a Yelp listing for it on Google.

Baked Bear and Uniqlo are coming to Pike & Rose, and Starbucks is moving to a different spot in the development. All 3 want patrons of the Federal Realty property to know their arrival in these new spaces is just around the corner. New hotel Canopy by Hilton (above) will arrive even sooner: their grand opening is now set for next Thursday, March 15, 2018.

Baked Bear, a gourmet custom ice cream sandwich shop, will be located in the L.L. Bean building overlooking Rose Park. Uniqlo, the highly-popular Japanese apparel retailer, will open this fall at 11853 Grand Park Avenue. And Starbucks' future final location has changed yet again - it will now be by H&M at 11860 Grand Park Avenue. The ubiquitous coffee shop will make its move this summer.

The new Canopy by Hilton is just about ready to open at Pike & Rose. A new bluemercury location is also under construction in the ground floor of the hotel.

The rooftop sign for the soon-to-open Canopy by Hilton hotel at Pike & Rose was lit up last night on Rockville Pike. "Canopy by Hilton Washington D.C. Bethesda North" is located at 940 Rose Avenue in the Federal Realty development.

Canopy by Hilton, the future hotel at Pike & Rose, is now accepting its first reservations. Rooms can be reserved for dates beginning April 1, 2018 and later.  All rooms in the hotel will have free WiFi, a 55-inch TV, mini-refrigerator, Nespresso machine, plush robes, and beds custom-designed exclusively for Canopy. Canopy suites will feature separate living/dining areas, and there will be filtered spring water stations on every floor.

There will be free evening beer, wine and spirits tastings, free Canopy Bikes and a pedicab to get around Pike & Rose, and a 24-hour fitness center. Ground floor and second-floor retail tenants will include Taylor Gourmet, Nando's Peri-Peri and a Red Door Salon and Spa. The hotel is located at 940 Rose Avenue.
