Bethesda's Sculpt Studio offering the workout of Victoria's Secret models for swimsuit season (Photos)

With another high-end gym seemingly opening every month in downtown Bethesda, it helps to have high-profile devotees of your fitness method to show the results possible for Joe and Jane Citizen. Bar Method has touted disciples like Anna Paquin (True Blood) and Lesley Murphy (The Bachelor); new arrival SoulCycle draws Olivia Wilde and Katie Holmes to its Hollywood and New York locations.

Bethesda's Sculpt Studio, not to be outdone, has Sofia Vergara among the famous fans of its innovative Megaformer Pilates equipment and method.

But with swimsuit season approaching, Sculpt is upping its marketing game - and course offerings - just as Bethesda residents start thinking seriously about which Bethesda gym might give them the most exercise bang-for-the-buck by summer vacation. Victoria's Secret models Romee Strijd and Toni Garrn have both cited their obvious results from Megaformer workouts. DJ (and part-time Armani model) Calvin Harris has also been spotted on the same Megaformer equipment used at Sculpt Studio.

Of course, equipment is only half of the fitness equation. Your instructors, and having the right exercises, are the other 50%. To give clients a chance to get the same workouts as the stars, Sculpt has just added two new courses:

Arms, Abs, Core is a 50 minute workout on the Megaformer that focuses on sculpting arms and the abdominal area.

Next, try Sculpt 40/20: 40 minutes on the Megaformer, followed by 20 minutes of cardio; a"fast-paced muscle burn that results in a sweat-drenched finish."

FREE WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE CLASS TONIGHT AT SCULPT STUDIO IN BETHESDA

Sculpt Studio is offering Bethesda women a chance to learn basic self-defense skills for free tonight at 7:00 PM. Lubomyr Murashchik, a Sculpt staff member with a military and mixed martial arts background, will teach the course.

In another effort to help local women, Sculpt Studio is also participating in the Washingtonian Fit Fest on Saturday, June 21, at American University in Washington, D.C.

SCULPT STUDIO GRAND OPENING THIS SATURDAY IN BETHESDA (PHOTOS)

The first Megaformer Pilates fitness studio in Bethesda will open this Saturday, January 25. Sculpt Studio is hosting a special Open House between 1:00-4:00 PM Saturday for local residents.

Visitors will be able to meet the instructors, tour the facilities, become familiar with the unique Megaformer equipment, watch or participate in free 10-minute sessions, and receive 20% off class packages purchased on Saturday.

SCULPT STUDIO PILATES GYM OPENING JANUARY 25 IN BETHESDA (PHOTO)

The second big Bethesda fitness announcement this week is from 4900 Auburn Avenue, where Sculpt Studio will open January 25. Sculpt will be the first Megaformer Pilates studio in Bethesda. An endorsement of Megaformer Pilates by Sofia Vergara is prominently displayed on the Sculpt website.

What is Megaformer? It's an exercise machine which is a variation on the Pilates reformer. Much like the more sophisticated cycles coming to PureRyde in the Bradley Shopping Center, these machines offer more movements than traditional equipment in the discipline. That means more parts of the body can be worked out by the machines.
