BETHESDA FINE ARTS FESTIVAL, SATURDAY AND SUNDAY
This isn't exactly what it sounds like, so don't start running the other direction, thinking you'll need a masters in Fine Art to enjoy this festival.
Instead, "Old Town" Bethesda becomes a market of sorts along Norfolk, Auburn and Cordell Avenues.
That means you'll be able to meet artists, and buy their creations, such as paintings, photos, furniture and jewelry. Some of these folks have traveled from across the country to be here.
In addition to engaging in cultural pursuits, there will be fabulous food from BlackFinn, Haagen-Dazs, Hard Times Cafe, Mamma Lucia and Yamas Grill (if Yamas has gyros or lamb burgers, grab one!).
There will also be live music.
The hours are 10-6 today, and 10-5 Sunday.
Broaden your mind, and shrink your wallet, at this annual fine art experience in downtown Bethesda.

GREEK EASTER
IN
BETHESDA
Religious Services and Restaurant
Feasts, All within Downtown Bethesda!
Another Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row Exclusive!!!
While many Christians are still finishing their Easter candy, those of the Greek Orthodox faith are just getting ready to celebrate this weekend. Here in downtown Bethesda, one can attend Greek Orthodox services *and* celebrate with traditional Greek cuisine, without leaving the borders of town!
St. George Greek Orthodox Church, at 7701 Bradley Boulevard, is known even to non-Orthodox Bethesda residents for its popular annual festival (to be held again in May). This weekend, the church will hold the following services:
Today (Good Friday):
--------------------------------
9:00 AM Decorating of the Kouvouklion
Noon Royal Hours
3:00 Apokatheilosis (The bringing-down of Christ from the Cross)
7:00 Lamentations
Holy Saturday:
--------------------------------
9:30 AM Liturgy of St. Basil
11:00 PM The Canon of Pascha
12:00 AM Resurrection and Divine Liturgy
Sunday (Great and Holy Pascha)
--------------------------------
"The Feast of Feasts"
11:00 AM Agape Service
(Easter Egg Hunt to follow)
Now, about those eggs. Greek Easter eggs are dyed like "Western" Easter eggs; the difference is that Greek Easter eggs are all dyed red, to symbolize the Blood of Christ.
Anyone can celebrate Greek Easter this weekend at Yamas Mediterranean Grill, at 4806 Rugby Avenue in Bethesda. They will be serving traditional lamb dishes, and - of course - Red Eggs!
You can carry on the tradition of cracking your red egg against someone else's.
Happy Easter to those celebrating this weekend in Bethesda, and around the world.
"Christos Anesti!"
