Yamas Grill auctioning off entire contents of restaurant today

Yamas Mediterranean Grill appears to be on its way out at 4806 Rugby Avenue in Bethesda. An auction of the entire contents of the restaurant is being held today. In the auction announcement, it says the restaurant is "making way for a new concept," through a "complete liquidation."

Ovens, flatscreen TVs, security cameras, a deep fryer, gyro broilers, a draft beer system, and much more are up for bid. The Greek restaurant, a popular lunch spot for downtown Bethesda workers, has a 3.5 star rating on Yelp, and a 4-star rating on Grubhub.

Love their food but I can't say I'm surprised. I went in here for take out on Friday and it was completely empty, none of the regular staff, and they didn't seem too focused on making sales

When Yamas originally opened it was amazing. The staff were great and the place was full. It was like this for quite a few years. I went recently and the place was empty. The original staff were gone. Instead there was a lady who barely spoke or understood any English so making my order was very difficult. On top of that, the food was not that good anymore. I bet they are closing for good. After my most recent experience I kind of predicted it.

They've had tax liens placed on them by Maryland for years now due to unpaid taxes. I hope any proceeds go to pay their back taxes.

Expect this to be reported on "the other website" in a few hours from now. Dyer scooped them as usual.

That's too bad, I love Yamas. I wish Tony and the staff all the best!

The Trump admin is running them out of the county and country. #Sad!

7:03, anyone that thinks the closing of a minor restaurant that no one's been to in ages is a "scoop" needs to get out more.

2:07 PM sounds like an odd time to start. But it's good that they specified that it is EST, not Dyer Standard Time, or I would have headed over there at 5:07.

I wish everyone at YAMAS the best. They had good food at a reasonable price, maybe too reasonable.

I went by there about 20 minutes ago. They were serving lunch as usual.
