Menchie's Frozen Yogurt opens in Bethesda (Photo)

Well, they weren't able to open in time to serve the holiday Egg Nog flavor, but Menchie's Frozen Yogurt has finally gotten up and running at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. Find them on Level 1 outside of Forever 21.

TUTTI FRUITTI TO OPEN AT PIKE AND ROSE IN NORTH BETHESDA

Exclusive!

Frozen yogurt chain Tutti Fruitti is the latest tenant to sign on at the under-construction Pike & Rose development in White Flint. But the shop won't be in the newer Federal Realty buildings going up right now. Tutti Fruitti will be located in an existing retail building at the corner of Old Georgetown Road and Rockville Pike.

That structure will be getting a makeover to better fit with the newer development on the site. Tutti Fruitti will move into the space next to Bank of America and Chipotle. Montgomery County has 3 Tutti Fruittis already, located in Wheaton, Germantown and Damascus.

BUBBLE TEA ADDED TO BERRY YOGURT MENU IN BETHESDA (PHOTOS)

Berry Yogurt, the frozen yogurt shop on Norfolk Avenue, has added a large variety of Boba tea (a.k.a. bubble tea) drinks to its menu just in time for summer.

Boba tea originated in Taiwan, with the boba being tapioca "bubbles" floating in the tea-milk blended beverage. Sweet or fruit flavors can be blended in, and served in an icy form.

You will see the complete boba menu below; click to enlarge for more details.

One apparent subtraction from the menu here: sushi. I don't see it mentioned anymore.

SERENBERRY YOGURT UP FOR SALE AT WESTFIELD MONTGOMERY MALL

The owner of Serenberry Yogurt at  Bethesda's Westfield Montgomery Mall has put the 2-years-young frozen yogurt and smoothies bar on the market.

With a prime, first-level spot outside of Macy's, there is certainly the prospect of business success there.  The current asking price, according to the owner, is $75,000.  But he says the stand brings in more than that in revenue.

That's a lot of yogurt!

NEW SUSHI PLACE IN BETHESDA - PAY BY THE PIECE, 49¢ EACH!

Berry Yogurt seems an unlikely place to have sushi.  But a few days ago, the Norfolk Avenue frozen yogurt shop put up a sign promising just that in the near future.

Yesterday, I was headed over to Cordell Avenue towards the California Tortilla Grand Opening, and Berry Yogurt had a new sign - and sushi.

I didn't have time to stop in, but did not see sushi being made at that time. There is a case that is storing sushi, and an employee wearing a white chef's outfit.  The shop had no customers at the moment, and as you can see in the photo, Cal Tort's grand opening was drawing all the crowds.

Berry Yogurt faces tremendous competition from Yogiberry and Sweetgreen at Bethesda Row, so they obviously are hoping to appeal to a wider audience.  And the lunch crowd.  Their main competition is probably going to be the Japanese market around on St. Elmo Avenue.  They fly their seafood in from Japan, so I'm interested to find out more about Berry Yogurt's sourcing.

But for now, just a quick heads up to let you know it's open.

YOGI CASTLE FROZEN YOGURT OPENS IN BETHESDA! [PHOTOS]

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS!

Yogi Castle kept its September promise!  Bethesda's newest frozen yogurt shop had its grand opening yesterday at Westfield Montgomery Mall.

The gleaming yogurt palace is mostly self-serve, but staff is there to help you out.  I couldn't help but notice that the high-end stools for in-store dining were the same type I featured in the premiere edition of My First Bethesda Apartment, here on the blog.

While some outlets like Red Mango bend towards the eccentric, Yogi Castle offers a more crowdpleasing selection of flavors.  There are stand-bys like Peanut Butter and Chocolate, but also more unusual ones like Cake Batter.

Just in time for fall and Halloween, Yogi Castle's special flavor right now is Pumpkin.  They also have free samples!

Now here is a full photo gallery from the Grand Opening, so you can tour the shop vicariously with me:
Grand Opening day!

Start here, by taking a cup
Great flavors!  Low fat!  Tip:  the center
tap will dispense both flavors at once

Pumpkin - just in time for Halloween!
Adding chocolate to peanut butter

Now add toppings.  Everything looks fresh
I'm adding chocolate candy

Now pick up your spoon here, and join
the Yogi Castle Club
After you've got everything you want, place
your cup on this scale to determine price

Don't forget Yogi Castle has a full
selection of smoothies and shakes
Ready to eat

Fabulous

YOGI CASTLE UPDATES SIGN TO REFLECT NEW SEPTEMBER OPENING

Remember my report on Yogi Castle opening in Westfield Montgomery Mall?  In the last week of August, the sign posted in the future location was still promising an August opening.

Finally, the sign has been updated to a September opening for the self-serve frozen yogurt shop.

YOGI CASTLE, URBAN OUTFITTERS OPENING IN BETHESDA AT WESTFIELD MONTGOMERY MALL

Attention Frozen Yogurt maniacs:  Yet another frozen yogurt shop is opening in Bethesda.

Yogi Castle is a self-serve yogurt shop, opening in the near future on Level 1 at Westfield Montgomery.  The sign says August, but somehow I'm skeptical.  Maybe they'll prove me wrong by Friday, so wait and we'll find out soon enough.

Yogi Castle's menu is limited compared to more popular chains.  Likely flavors include Original, peanut butter, cookies and cream, strawberry, New York Cheesecake, raspberry, green tea, chocolate, and - if we're lucky - gingerbread.

Meanwhile, diagonally on the opposite side of Level 1, Urban Outfitters is scheduled to open in October.

RED MANGO FROZEN YOGURT IS COMING TO BETHESDA!

Red Mango is opening a shop on the Bethesda campus of the NIH.

The chain, founded by CEO Dan Kim in 2006, isn't entirely new to the region.  You may have been to the Red Mango in Clarendon.

Frozen yogurt and smoothies are the house specialties.  In fact, Red Mango is rated #1 in that restaurant category by Zagat.

Some of the best flavors, in my opinion, are Madagascar Vanilla, Honey Badger, Cake Batter, Peanut Butter, Sugarcane Cola, Chai and Mojito.

Smoothies come in ultra-healthy (Healthy Bones, Revitalizing Energy) and 1970s Elvis-in-Vegas (Banana and Peanut Butter) flavors.

Red Mango also serves frozen lemonades, Coffee Chillers, Artisan hot chocolate, and parfaits.

Red Mango should open this year at NIH.

Red Mango, 10 Center Drive, MSC 1086, Bethesda.
