CITY PERCH ADDS LATE NIGHT HAPPY HOUR AT PIKE & ROSE

City Perch Kitchen + Bar, the restaurant above the iPic Theaters at Pike & Rose, is adding two new promotions to its schedule. They now have a second Social Hour (their version of Happy Hour) at night, every night from 10:00 PM until closing. Pricing of drinks and small plates are similar to the earlier Social Hour after work: $3-6. There will also be a live DJ during the Social Hour on Friday and Saturday nights.

For those in the service industry, City Perch has a second new promotion - 30% off every Monday night after 9:00 PM. Just bring proof of your employment to qualify for the discount.

SOCIAL HOUR STARTS MONDAY AT CITY PERCH AT PIKE & ROSE

The new alternative to Happy Hour is City Perch Kitchen + Bar's new Social Hour, starting Monday, February 2, at 4:00 PM. Social Hour will give you a chance to try some of Master Mixologist and Advanced Sommelier Adam Seger's handcrafted cocktails, and several of the best appetizers on the menu, for prices between $4 and $7.

Offerings include BLT Potato Chips, 4 Oysters on the 1/2 Shell, or Deviled Eggs for $4 per order; Crab Cake Sammie and Loaded Baked Potato Popovers will be $5 per order; Roasted Mushroom Tartine and Porchetta Butter Bun for $6 per order; and their Classic Shrimp Cocktail (three per serving) for $7 per order.

Pair that with one of these adult beverages: 8 draft beers, including selections from Maryland’s own Flying Dog Brewery and Heavy Seas Beer, are available in 16-ounce servings for $4 each; Norma Jean and Mandarin Mule cocktails, as well as Homemade Sangria, are $5 each; any cocktail with house-infused spirits and the Dealer’s Choice cocktail are $6 each; and Half Pint bottled cocktails (two servings) as well as wines by the glass (up to $10 regular price) are $7 each.

James Beard Award-winning Chef Sherry Yard says, "We want guests to feel welcome coming to City Perch for a drink, to kick back and relax—whether they’re unwinding after a long day at work or meeting friends for a night on the town. You could even enjoy a dinner comprised solely of our savory bites—they’re that good. Ultimately, Social Hour at City Perch is whatever you want to make of it."

City Perch is "perched" above the iPic Theaters.

NEW BETHESDA MOVIE THEATERS TAKE THEIR BATTLE UNDERGROUND (PHOTOS)

ArcLight Cinemas and iPic Theaters are doing battle daily in the northern part of Bethesda, at Westfield Montgomery Mall and Pike & Rose, respectively. Both are state-of-the-art theaters (although ArcLight features double the number of screens) commanding a higher ticket price than the cineplexes of old. But they are also squaring off underneath the streets of downtown Bethesda for the wealthier demographic there, with dueling ads in the Bethesda Metro station tunnel.

BETHESDA CONSTRUCTION UPDATE: LA MADELEINE AT PIKE & ROSE (PHOTOS)

The architecture of the future La Madeleine at Pike & Rose is taking on the distinctive design of the French cafe chain's other locations. It should definitely be fireplace weather when it opens this winter.

GIANT BAKING UTENSILS HOVERING OVER PIKE & ROSE! (PHOTOS)

In a scene reminiscent of Hardware Wars, giant baking utensils have landed at Pike & Rose, and attached themselves to the side of the PerSei apartments. Actually, these are just the latest design additions to the building's facade that recall a legendary area baking equipment company.

STELLA BARRA, SUMMER HOUSE SANTA MONICA TO OPEN JANUARY 15 AT PIKE & ROSE

Artisanal pizza and California cuisine will arrive at Federal Realty's new Pike & Rose development next month. Stella Barra, a pizzeria concept by Chef Jeff Mahin, and Summer House Santa Monica (also created by Mahin) will open on January 15, 2015, at 11825 Grand Park Avenue. Both restaurants are part of the Lettuce Entertain You restaurant group, of which Bethesda Row's Mon Ami Gabi is a family member, as well.

Construction continues on the interior, but as you can see, a lot of work has been done on the exterior facade. Already popular in Southern California and Chicago, Stella Barra will be a must-try for pizza fanatics in the DC area. Red and white pizzas will join 40 bottles of wine and some unique menu additions created just for this location. Summer House will be centered around a wood-fired grill, and will employ locally-sourced ingredients and simple preparation of American food in a beach house-themed setting.

THE HOLIDAYS COME TO PIKE & ROSE (PHOTOS)

Given the big holiday displays every year at Bethesda Row, I've been wondering what Federal Realty would do for the season at its newest development, Pike & Rose. Those questions were answered this weekend, and I present the festive results here for your pleasure. The tree was not yet lit at this point, but there is plenty of Christmas and Chanakuh spirit in the air even so. Obviously, the scene will be more impressive once Phase 2 of the development has been built out, as the Christmas cheer is limited in distance. But if enough of the new retail stores can open in time, this could be a real sleeper spot for holiday shopping in Montgomery County - particularly for those purchasing apparel.
