Bethesda police station sign malfunctions after less than 1 year
The new 2nd District Montgomery County police station has been open less than a year, and already the lighted sign out front is malfunctioning. Recent night have found the sign flashing on-and-off outside the station at 4823 Rugby Avenue, which opened last February 15. The Montgomery County Council has a poor record of procurement and major infrastructure projects, ranging from the Silver Spring Transit Center and Apex Building debacles to paying $23,000 for a $1000 security camera system in 2017.

Hey Chicken Little, it would shock you to no end even if the toilet tissue in the PD bathrooms was installed under instead of over. Speaking of over, GET OVER YOUR SORRY ASS SELF! Your constant whining about absolutely nothing, non issues is why voters will NEVER, NEVER elect you. Not even for the coveted Dog Catcher position. This is a minor electrical malfunction, which more than likely is under the contract of the electrician who installed this sign, to repair any and all malfunctions for a set period of time (usually one year) at no cost. WARRANTY DUDE! Your trumpanzee syndrome is pathetic.
LIGHT BULB OUT
FILM AT 11
It takes a Dim Bulb to report on a Dead Bulb!
I see more dump trucks at the Marriott site from the office windows. Film at 11.
What a scoop!!!
7:24 - Your comment will deleted in a minute. That's not permitted to say anyone scooped Robert.
Ironically, that is an illegal sign (because it flashes), but DPS does not enforce the county's sign rules anymore.
7:27 - the heck they don't. The scooter shop guy at Veteran's Plaza had to go to court for the right to restore his sign which is a giant skateboard. Thankfully, he won.
And the dump trucks. Don't forget the Marriott dump trucks.
Dyer didn't report that. I saw it from the office windows.
So -- about that $23,000 surveillance system this blog has been whining about: We established in 2017 that it's #FakeNews.
Of the $34,500 appropriation, only $2,500 is for security cameras.
And because I cite my sources: Refer to the last page of this document.
Supposedly there is video showing a discussion in which a different figure was mentioned, but since the author cannot produce it we must assume it does not exist.
BABA BOOEY
body-slams fake news through coffee table
Those out at night (like BTB) only notices this issue.
I love the passion of Dyer's audience.
They obsess over every minute detail.
I'm guessing Dyer has a lot of analysis of his photos since his Network is the only daily local source with photos from around the county.
@7:32AM: I guess it's just the construction sites where they don't enforce. Every one of them has unpermitted signs, some which flicker, flash, or change colors, all in violation of the code.
10:33 - Scooter man should complain then. That's hardly fair if others can get off Scott free and he nearly lost his business having to pay legal bills.
@10:33: Right. The heart of the problem is that the county enforces its many regulations on an arbitrary and capricious basis. If you're in a sector that the county government likes, you get a pass. Otherwise, hire a lawyer.
8:08: Wrong again. Half of the scandal was that the cameras were not itemized in a public document before the appropriation was approved by the Council. Only those present or watching the televised meeting heard Council staff declare $23,000 for 4 security cameras.
You deleted this? (eyeroll)
Buying a couple cameras and cords online and plugging them yourself in is not the same thing as was proposed.
3:40: Wrong again. I was able to get an estimate online that included professional installation for under $1000. The taxpayers were ripped off, and the money likely went to a contractor with ties to the Council as a kickback. Then they donate to the Councilmembers' campaigns, if the scam works like some of the "non-profits" in the County I've caught doing this. Such as a maximum contribution to George Leventhal from the director of a non-profit after he voted to increase the amount of money they got from taxpayers. Sweet deal.
Meanwhile, hack Post reporter Jennifer Barrios still hasn't investigated the $7 million embezzlement scandal and cover-up, but has kept us up-to-date on the "Silver Spring Hand Lettering Society" while making unsubstantiated accusations of racism against County police officers.
I am a facility manager. It is literally impossible to get professional-grade equipment installed for under $1k as you describe. Whatever it is you priced wouldn’t have been worth the county’s money.
What's your personal beef with Jennifer? That's at least the second time you've called her out personally.
That's kinda specific.
4:50: Tax expert, self-checkout engineer, recording producer, and now today facility manager. I don't know where you find the time!
Even if the County spent a little bit more, you're talking a few thousand, not the outrageous $23,000 they spent. In 2017, high-quality security cameras with installation are available for a fraction of that. In 2017, one can even do the installation themselves if they wanted to save the taxpayers even more.
5:05: Oh, I don't know, maybe because she played a key role for the Montgomery County cartel in not writing a single sentence about Republicans during the Council At-Large primary, nor a single sentence about the Council races during the entire general election? So she's either a compromised criminal collaborator, or the worst political reporter in the country. No good option among those two choices!
She's also extremely unprofessional - the only reporter I've ever dealt with who doesn't answer messages. At all. Total insanity.
But I guess that's what the standard is at a paper being run by corporate tycoon to promote his own business enterprises.
Does anyone really believe that not a single County employee went to the Post during the $7 million embezzlement cover-up? Again, Barrios either intentionally didn't investigate, or is the worst reporter to work for the Post, which is always the top choice of whistleblowers in the area.
"Tax expert, self-checkout engineer, recording producer, and now today facility manager. I don't know where you find the time!"
Says the self-proclaimed jack-of-all-trades (construction superintendent, weatherman, burg(u)lar alarm consultant, etc.) Robert Dyer.
5:37: Never made any such claims, and I'm not anonymous. You have done both.
"She's also extremely unprofessional - the only reporter I've ever dealt with who doesn't answer messages. At all. Total insanity."
Says the "reporter" who deletes any and all inconvenient questions and afterward claims that they were "harassing" or "threatening".
Case in point:
"Have you ever considered re-setting the time zone on this blog to the correct one?"
Robert Dyer: "Have you ever considered that you're going to face a severe payback for harassing, threatening and stalking me when your identity is finally revealed?"
I am not, nor have I ever claimed to be, a tax expert, self-checkout engineer, or recording producer.
Why do you pretend there’s only one person in the world who disagrees with you? Last November we learned there are in fact thousands of people who aren’t buying what you’re selling.
5:51: You have. There were about 100,000 people who suddenly appeared in the 2018 voter universe in just four years. Many anomalous precinct results showing illegal voting and machine tampering. And collusion between MoCo cartel and Washington Post to influence outcome. Hardly a referendum on me, but I will seek an investigation from the County and state board, as well as the FBI if warranted.
Paging Burt Macklin...
That weird term "voter universe" again. Ignoring the fact that Trump's behavior during the past two years has resulted in a huge increase in new voters coming to the polls, nationwide, last November.
"Many anomalous precinct results showing illegal voting and machine tampering"
Bullshit. People just don't like you. The only ones who voted for you are those who will vote for any idiot with an "R" next to your name. Deal with, and try to figure out what you need to change in yourself.
"And collusion between MoCo cartel and Washington Post to influence outcome."
I thought you said there had been no reporting on the Council election. If they said nothing about any of the candidates, then how would that influence the outcome?
"I will seek an investigation from the County and state board, as well as the FBI if warranted."
Ha ha...you're such a pathetic paper tiger.
I post under my name exclusively. Accusing me of other comments is childish.
6:26am not true at all. You claimed to be me and you also post under anonymous.
7:25 AM Thank you "Anna". We need blog police like you to keep everyone straight.
Honey, that's not me. I just got back from Olney.
Yes, at first I posted anonymously, like most everyone else.
I started using Anna Van Horn when the viscous and false accusations started.
Then all y'all started spoofing THAT name.
So I changed to using my Blogger name. Exclusively.
From day one, I always claimed my anonymous comments.
I might like to shop, but i'm not buying the BS you're selling, Anonymous Rugby.
So Jennifer didn't jump thru hoops for you.
Of course, the adult professional thing to do is promptly trash her.
And that's why everyone votes for you, your overwhelming kindness and understanding.
9:59am it's not very adult and professional to troll Robert Dyer for years. Obviously your hate or love of the man is intense. Which is it?
And wishing bad things to happen to Robert (you call it "karma") is weird. You're just like the man that shot up the Capital newspaper in Annapolis.
Like you, that man had a grudge for years against a local journalist. Like you, he was certain that he was wronged.
I expect you'll eventually be arrested for making threats here. We see how these stories end.
I have no grudge against Dyer. As I've said many times before (very peculiar that you should remember all my one-offs but ignore my repetitions) I don't dislike him, I just don't like him. Which is quite different.
You're slamming me for reading this little blog for years? Funny, I thought this blog was made to be read.
I'm worried you're stalking me. You make these false accusations about me and put them in print. I've been very vocal about this being my real name. There is no defensible excuse for your actions toward me.
You're better off keeping your threats to yourself. Of course, I expect you'll eventually be paying dearly for your defamation.
While defamation cases for slander or libel generally require that a plaintiff prove damage, some types of statements, including accusations of crimes, are often considered per se defamation and are assumed to be harmful without requiring proof of damage.
To prove a defamation case (slander for spoken statements, libel for written ones), a person must show that a statement is false, was made to a third party (like a TV host or audience), and was harmful. Here, that last part would be a given under the doctrine of defamation per se, as it was an allegation of criminal activity. - J Turley
A troll complaining about defamation? Now I have heard everything.
I worry you are the next Capital shooter. Here is my reasoning:
You've already posted several times that you knowwhere Robert lives.
You've said he deserves something bad to happen to him soon ("karma")
You are delusional and believe Dyer is somehow threatening you. Yet you visit his website daily and post messages to him, 99% of them seek to, at best, agitate or, at worst, threaten him (e.g. "I know where you live and you deserve something bad to happen to you").
I'm frightened what you might do next. We've seen this play before at the Capitol newspaper.
It is you who is behaving like a stalker:
You continue to post that you know where Dyer lives.
You posted today that you're imagining what he is doing at that moment
You fervently believe Dyer has wronged you.
You believe something bad will, and should, happen to Dyer (you call it karma)
I posted no such thing.
Please get help, your actions are worrying.
You atually did post today that you imagined Robert sitting in a chair (you identified his neighborhood). You said he is delusional and essentially will "get what he deserves". You call it "Karma"
You see, the Capitol shooter was as absolutely certain as you that his target was wronging somehow him. He felt justified to open fire, just as you do.
I'm starting to get a little nervous about this Tom Andrews character. Does he ever post about anything other than mass shootings?
Essentially karma is you get what you give.
The troll claims something bad will happen to Dyer since he believes Dyer has done bad things.
So,. relishing that Dyer will get what he deserves.
Why you'd enjoy something bad happening to a local journalist is beyond me.
Tom Andrews is amazingly on point.
9:59: What does unprofessionally not responding to emails and failing to cover her assigned topic during an election year have to do with "jumping through hoops?" That's her damn job, and she would have been demoted or fired at just about any other newspaper. The fact that she is still assigned to MoCo politics is all the proof you need that the Post is colluding with the MoCo cartel, but fortunately we have a lot more proof beyond that, as well.
6:40: You should be more "nervous" about the people who are stalking and threatening me on here, rather than about a sane person like Tom Andrews who recognizes the signs of a psycho stalker.
Her assigned topic? How would you know that?
She has an impressive resume.
It's all more sour grapes.
4:06: I would know that because the Washington Post published a splashy announcement online when they hired her stating she would be assigned to Montgomery County politics. A resume is meaningless if her work at the Post today is either incompetent or criminal collusion with the local cartel. In fact, a review of her output at the Post should generate calls for a review of any previous "impressive" work to determine if it was made up like a lot of other "impressive resume" reporters.
Did she ever report from Fergus Falls, for example?
Does Al Gore have sour grapes? Are there sour grapes over absentee ballot victories in North Carolina? Do tell! You can't have sour grapes when you were "defeated" in an illegitimate election like the one we just had in Montgomery County.
Hey, Dyer, you megalomaniac fruitcake -
Al Gore lost by 536 votes in a state with a population of 16 million.
You lost by 174,711 votes in a county with a population of 1 million.
In the case of the North Carolina's 9th Congressional District, the irregularities there are well-documented, resulting in the state's Board of Election declining to certify the results.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_North_Carolina%27s_9th_congressional_district_election#Results
No comparison in either case.
"...a sane person like Tom Andrews who recognizes the signs of a psycho stalker."
Isn't this a violation of one of Robert Dyer's rules?
"Never directly respond to, interact with, or even acknowledge the existence of The Serial Shiller."
5:52: I lost by "174,711 votes" in an election that mysteriously had 100,000 more voters participating than in 2014, has anomalous results at many polling places, had no general election debates, and had no general election coverage of the race in the Washington Post (or any other local media outlet, for that matter).
Very comparable.
Let's give Ms Barrios a buzz and get her side of it.
5:53: Please do - that's like when someone said, "I wish John McCarthy was here" at a candidate forum in Damascus. I said, "I wish he was, too," because I would love to be able to ask him about the Rockville rape case he threw the victim under the bus in.
Blogger Anna said...
Except it wasn't an illegitimate election. Period.
You didn't win. I know it must seem like the world is against you, that's obvious in your writings, but the reality is that, you didn't get enough votes to win.
Why do you continue to torture yourself over it?
5:48 AM
Saith Dyer: "I would love to be able to ask [John McCarthy] about the Rockville rape case he threw the victim under the bus in."
You've had nearly two years to contact McCarthy since the time of that incident. But you're just waiting for him to show up at your convenience at a coffee-and-donuts event in Damascus?
#World'sLaziestJournalist
5:23: It was not a legitimate election. Period.
Legitimate elections have press coverage of candidates, candidate forums and voting results free of bizarre anomalies at multiple precincts, and more. So we know this was indeed an illegitimate election.
4:18: LOL - The guy has been in hiding since the rape case. Where do you see him, besides TV press conferences? He used to be out and about, accessible at community events.

No wonder I'm living rent-free in your head, and possibly that of your minions.
You just can't let anything go.
I just comment on a blog and put the truth out there.
It's all on you to take my words in the worst way possible.

The election wasn't "stolen" from you. You didn't appeal to enough voters to get them to vote for you. Period. Anything else is sour grapes.
This is the reality and no matter how many times you delete it, it remains the truth.

You do realize that not accepting the truth and always feeling victimized is not healthy for anyone, including you.
