Open mic night coming to Norfolk Avenue Starbucks
The hidden talents of Bethesda residents may be revealed later this month at the Starbucks at 7700 Norfolk Avenue. An open mic night is being launched, and will be held on the third Friday each month from 6:00-8:00 PM. Considering that this is one of many businesses forced to cut back evening hours after the Montgomery County Council's "nighttime economy" initiative ended up tanking nightlife in downtown Bethesda, anything that gets them to stay open to 8:00 is a positive, right?

Since Hans Riemer and the MoCoCartel get the blame for the turnover in nightspots in downtown Bethesda, does this mean that they get the credit for the renaissance of nightspots in Pike & Rose?
And in other news, some Starbucks are adding Sharps containers in their bathrooms so homeless and other heroine junkies can get their fix but do so more cleanly. Nice.
"Considering that this is one of many businesses forced to cut back evening hours blah blah blah MoCo Cartel yada yada yada"
I must have missed this cutback in evening hours. When did it happen? I can't find any report of it in your archives.
5:43: No - when you're responsible for 16 places closing downtown, you don't get credit for anything.
What's the deal with airplane food!?
6:23 Hate to nit pick, but technically you're giving them credit for 16 places closing, Robert.
Maybe your incessant harping on the failed nightime businesses in Bethesda is keeping everyone away.
7:37 AM Pretending problems don't exist and looking the other way isn't the way forward to improving downtown Bethesda.
There's recognizing problems and then there's beating a dead horse.
We get it, everything fails in Bethesda after 8PM.
Will this be for music or standup comedy or both? This is a stones throw from my Saturday Comedy show at Positano on Fairmont Ave..#toocloseforcomfort

Does that mean I have to turn down the volume of my porn?
