Stepped-up police presence as new Montgomery County mask mandate takes effect

More police cars were seen in high-traffic dining and retail hubs in Bethesda last evening, as a new mask regulation in Montgomery County went into effect at nightfall. The new requirement issued by County Health Officer Travis Gayles requires the wearing of masks at all times outdoors, even when six feet apart from others. At the same time, Gayles announced that indoor gatherings can include no more than ten people.

Shortly after the new orders went into effect at 5:00 PM, a Montgomery County police cruiser with lights flashing was stopped in the entry lane to the Trade Street garage at Pike & Rose. A heavier police presence was also seen around Bethesda Row, including a Park Police car just north of the development at Caroline Freeland Park. Not seen during early evening stops at both properties were the Maryland State Police, whom Gov. Larry Hogan had said would serve as mask patrols and establishment capacity enforcers over the holiday weekend. Virtually everyone walking around Bethesda Row was wearing a mask at that hour.

This is absolutely dystopian.

If the masks work, why the six feet?

If the six feet works, why the mask?

If both work, why the capacity reduction and hours reduction?

We're just being trained and conditioned to accept this without questioning it.

Welcome to Russia. Or should I say welcome to the next 4 years under Biden. Gayles and Company no doubt wept at the news that Biden was Pres-Elect. God help us.

This is budding totalitarianism.

Isn't remaining anonymous a form of masking?

I recently watched a few recent videos of Tokyo, showing how about 99% of the people walking around the city wearing masks all the time. Only a very few were mask-less, and a couple of older folks only covered their mouths. Even in restaurants, most patrons pulled their masks up after taking a bite of food or drink.I wonder if this is why the USA currently has 96 times the COVID cases and 50 times the COVID deaths as Japan.

Is it really that hard to wear a mask all the time when outside of your home? Is it really that much of a burden to get us all though this as soon as possible? I don’t understand why many people have such a problem doing something that clearly works, just because of their “right” to not wear a mask is somehow being diminished. It’s a very easy and simple measure that we should all do, until a vaccine is widely used.

@5:08 AM: You're going to read your Pravda and like it.

MoCo messed this up. The press release wrongly stated that you need to wear it outdoors at all times. If you read the directive (which is what actually counts) linked in the release, it states only required outdoors _if_ you are < 6 feet from strangers. In other words, the same as the MD state-wide mandate. The person writing the press release is incompetent.

@2:13 PM: Maybe it would be easier if we didn't bother with elections at all and just had Democrats run everything as a one-party system backed by a compliant media. Deep down, you know that you'd prefer to skip having elections altogether. It's ok, you can tell me.

First I've heard of Antifa burning down churches.

As for beating up store owners, that seems to be the actions of a few malevolent anti-maskers.
