Strong-arm robbery in downtown Bethesda

Montgomery County police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery in downtown Bethesda last night, November 25, 2023. The robbery was reported along the street in the 7600 block of Old Georgetown Road at 8:10 PM Saturday night. That is outside of the Metropolitan apartments.

Which arm did the robber use?

Just to be clear, are you using "strong-arm robbery" as a synonym for "armed robbery"?
Or, instead, to include also situations involving a threat of force, even by someone apparently unarmed?

Not surprised with all the kids hanging outside the Chipotle there. Figures something like this would happen there and of course no comment from Elrich and Friends.

Attempted carjacking with shots fired at Wisconsin Ave (near Metro station.)

Attempted car jacking last evening on Wisconsin near Bethesda Blvd. Victim left the car and ran but suspects still shot at him. Failed to get his car because it was a manual transmission.

5:24: "Strong-arm" refers to the use or threat of physical force/assault that does not involve a weapon.

SHOTS FIRED is a whole new plateau we've reached! Elrich and Co. should be proud our little enclave is right up there with the big boys now!

And local and state officials in Maryland are no doubt furious that they got smacked down on the handgun qualification license requirement. Well done Court of appeals on overturning that. More concealed carry permits for the good guys equals trouble for the bad guys.

@9:12 AM - Just what do you think "Elrich and friends" should say, each and everytime a crime is reported? You and your ilk keep making these dog whistle comments as if some magic act by the CE will cure the crime wave. STFU!

9:10's logic is that liberals cannot be held responsible for any policy they've supported because of "good intentions". Well your good intentions just attempted to murder someone who surrendered their keys and was running away.

Have some integrity and own it.

@9:10, is this Trump's fault?

5:11 and 9:10 are you the hangers out there or are you the parents that raised these fine upstanding youth?

It sucks to be the thieves. It turns out the victim's car was equipped with a crystal-clear dashcam, which provided full-color detail of an armed thug brandishing a handgun at the victim while leaning out the passenger window of the red SUV. It has been reported these soon-to-be-felons followed the victim from DC to Bethesda.

Let's all take a moment to inhale deeply --get those lungs filled, everyone!-- and anticipate a hearty collective belly laugh for the monsters, who should be in custody in the not too distant future with police in possession of such vibrant footage of the crime.

11:06 - in years past, you'd be right on target. But sadly today, these crooks, despite being caught on camera with a gun, likely will not be in custody for very long. And that's one part of a very serious problem. These people get locked up. They get spun around and they get right back on the street to commit crimes again.

I hope 11:06 is right but let's see what John McCarthy does once they're arrested. Keep in mind that at least one of them shot at the retreating victim.

Hahaha.. they looked like juveniles. They'll be out on the street again the next day

12:26 - Are you kidding? John McCarthy is a lifer, social justice warrior, soft on crime, Far Left Dem, loser. Get rid of him once and for all.

A belly laugh is pathetic compensation for the societal degradation *allowed* by our contrite elected officials. It's too late for nurture, nature will win out: we need to start severely punishing these uncivilized animals that walk too freely amongst us.

He will form a diverse team of subject matter experts to identify and analyze the possible social and psychological stress factors, which might have contributed to such an aberrant behavior in the impressionable youth.

12:48 - Yes, even the staunchest Democrats are calling for a refund on these clueless officials which they elected overwhelmingly. It's a bit like the DC mayor, one of the worst elected officials in the country., who, with crime run amok in our nation's capital, she goes off to the UAE for a climate conference. Priorities out of whack. No one says a word. Lastly, get used to it. You just re-elected Elrich for four more long years.

12:48- Following the tradition of the late 'DC mayor for life' attending the Super Bowl XXI in Southern California while Dc was pounded by a blizzard.

@3:15 and when he's done, which should take at least 15-20 years they'll seek more public funding for "further research".

The simple alternative, which works every time it's tried, is to have real consequences for violent crime.

JAC said...

8:17 - Hilarious! I was gonna add that one too.
