Taste of Bethesda 2025 Photo Gallery
Taste of Bethesda, the town's biggest annual event, drew a huge crowd yesterday to the Woodmont Triangle neighborhood. The weather more than cooperated this time, a rarity in recent years. A few newcomers joined a roster of many of Bethesda's top restaurants, including the just-opened Tasty Grills & Catering, and the soon-to-open BabyCat Brewery. Notably absent was the once-ubiquitous Jaleo/Spanish Diner giant paella pan, as hometown celebrity chef Jose Andrés has exited the Bethesda market. BabyCat Brewery reports it could be open in three weeks if all goes according to plan; longer if it does not.

Your mean the Nor So Good Taste of Bethesda? That event has jumped the proverbial shark and should not have returned post COVID. It had its day but sadly that was yesterday.
Surprisingly, no pickpocket reports.
Yeah, just plenty of people having a good time, enjoying the weather, sampling some food, and listening to music. Clearly some shark-jumping going on there, for sure, for sure. Speaking of which, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCMkBn1vqNc
12:13pm - Taste of Bethesda was packed - how did it jump the shark? Some restaurant tents were more popular than others, but still lots of interest.
The Jaleo giant paella pan was iconic - none of the tents yesterday had a display like that.
This is the only Bethesda event that draws from throughout the region. We should have more but this is it.
Robert - thanks for a nice report on this event. Positive news is appreciated. Which leads to ..
JAC- please stop with all your negativity. It’s tiresome.
4;01 - Please consider going somewhere else if you don't like it.
People like 4:01 are typical of the left who just don't want to hear opinions they disagree with and frankly are but one step removed from actual violence as demonstrated everyday.
JAC - Is there anything you won't whine about? I went there, had a great time, and so did thousands of others.
8:02 - Plenty in fact. Taste of Bethesda was great for years but has gone downhill. You can disagree and leave it at that.
7:10 - Yes, a simple disagreement is never an option. My take on this event, which I attended for years, has had its day and isn't as good as it was and should be. Most of the food is sub par, tiny portions and expensive.
Once again, JAC standing in his yard and shaking his fist at the clouds.
7:10 you are mentally not well
You mean people like yourself 7:10pm? I mean, who would ever bring up violence in the context of Taste of Bethesda? You sound unhinged.
Has to do with politics. Community pride, yes. A traditional value.
JAC- it was a nice post. Your pontificating is tiresome. Maybe you can be more positive. I’ve actually seen you do it!
8:49 - that was a great event for a long time. can't wait for bob's shanghai to open. it's beyond legit.
Still a good event that showcases Bethesda as a food destination. But I miss the car show that Chevy Chase Cars used to hold and the huge paella pan.
7:01 & 7:21 gaslight much?
Perhaps I can start "JAC Fanclub" in the comments..
Stop eating lemons JAC. You are the most negative individual.
Gaslighting? You turned someone saying "stop being so negative" into politics and violence.
My only problem was that several tents ran out of food early and did not replenish their supply, or like Pappa John could not keep up with the demand, especially with kids around, and had a repeating line of people waiting for more.
It’s true, JAC is. And it’s tiresome. A post that is a”photo gallery” of an event becomes his place to opine negatively.
He and others then say to go to some other blog—when I’ve liked them post. JAC seems to think it’s his playground for telling us what he likes and what he doesn’t, instead of letting a photo galley just “be.”
Then we have people who say any one who disagrees with them is a radical liberal. In my case, I’m a moderate. But like radical liberals, these folks just keep bringing up irrelevant national politics on a local page. It’s.. odd. And tiresome.
I’ve lived in Bethesda for decades, and I appreciate positive posts when I can. I appreciate Robert pointing out crimes as I don’t see them elsewhere. (And JAC, I do go to about 12 news site a day already, this is one of them.).
Let’s be positive where we can be, and leave policy discussions to separate places.
Robert, you have a useful blog.
4:52 - That's one person's take on another's comments. Sorry you don't like it.
8:39 - Tiresome for you? Then don't read the posts. Someone with strong opinions should be villified? How bout simply disagreeing? How about saying that, in your opinion, you think what others have said, is way off base? I think the Taste of Bethesda had its day and isn't now as good as it once was. So what? I don't see how that's negative by the way and should cause so much ire. Others have agreed with my take on this food event. Fine. Yet the ones who have an opposing view simply lambast rather than offer their take and leave it at that. What I say here is often very positive like Bob's Shanghai coming and like Max's Ice Cream among many stories. So, do your homework before you comment and pile on. But mostly, if this bothers you, move on to another site. I have never, ever been negative toward a commenter or called names or anything of the sort on this forum. Many other do regularly. That's easy and cheap.
It's way too popular that I don't go anymore. JAC isn't a Debbie downer for his opinions because it's tiresome wading through all those people, dogs, strollers, lines to get Tix & bigger lines to get food with said Tix. It used to be great in trying new restaurants for the first time before going into them such as Chicken Out. They need to turn it into a Hispanic themed festival because that's the road we're headed or are at right now. Famous chef who had the big paella wok was a big draw and he doesn't even have any current establishments in downtown Btown. There's MY diatribe, now deal with it!
I couldn't agree more. The keyboard cowboys that attack won't like what you said either. I recall the giant paella as well and it was awesome. Many chefs and excellent food service people aren't in the downtown area anymore as you say. That's a slightly different conversation maybe in that the rent is too damn high. Ha! Remember that character who ran for NYC mayor who had that tag line? That guy was great. He's right though. That keeps great chef/owners out. No, you have to be big chains to afford it and we suffer as a result.
726 needs a dictionary and a mirror.
4:18 it's so easy to recognize your comments youll make a completely asinine statement, people call you out, and then you drop these weird insults and nonresponses that are somehow supposed to explain why you're right, but don't make sense to anyone else
8:16 Don't go away mad...
Pointing out that what you said was totally inappropriate=mad now?
What's actually inappropriate is how violent leftists are when you merely disagree with them, so yeah don't go away mad is probably wishful thinking.
You need to stop playing the victim. There has been no "violence" about this article outside of your twisted fantasies
The left is always "mostly peaceful" as cities burn. Ask the guy wearing the red hat that you guys hate at the taste of Bethesda about free speech. TDS is real and debilitating.
