Hundreds of Pepco customers are without power in downtown Bethesda after an apparent transformer explosion in the Woodmont Triangle area overnight. Residents report hearing multiple explosions around 3:15 AM this morning. Pepco crews have been working in the area all morning. The utility hopes to have power restored by 2:00 PM. Frequent transformer explosions and outages downtown continue to highlight the question of whether Montgomery County's adequate infrastructure laws regarding growth are, well, adequate. The empirical evidence would suggest not.

New estimate is for 4pm. Highly concerned this is going to extend a full 24 hours.
We're a couple of blocks away from the Woodmont location. As of about 2:45 pm Monday, our power has been restored.
Temperatures in the 20s last night and no power (thank you Pepco).
There was no out reach from the county to provide warming centers and other emergency support for the hundreds of residents without power.
BooHoo! Ain't that a shame, your tears look like rain. Poor whittle richy. GET OVER IT!
Let's not forget the MC Council limiting Natual Gas usage by not wanting to issue those permits for new construction all while closing off any fossil fuel electric generation.
Dream On!
Power went out at 2:10AM this morning on Battery. I heard the usual loud pop, but this time there were 3 and I saw smoke and a fireball over the Battery Lane Park area. Came back on 15 minutes later, not sure what the deal is with what's going on today is your breaking news reporting... Yes, I'm pissed at you Robert for not publishing my spot-on response in the comments reporting the library rape. Nothing was included that could not be published. We live in a crime addled town and you apparently are more worried about my prose or tone. No cuss words for the "children" reading your blog. WTH?
Inadequate response by our local government - no warming centers were offered to hundreds without power.
YOU SOUND STABLE!
The MC Council of Ostriches?
Start your own blog, then.
The NW DC Van Ness power substation drew more power than allotted.
