For the second weekend in a row, downtown Bethesda successfully held one of its major annual events, the 2023 Bethesda Row Arts Festival. Those who miss the Woodmont Avenue Streetery at Bethesda Row got a two-day reprieve during the festival, which closed the street between Elm Street and Bethesda Avenue to vehicles. Art in 14 different media categories was on display. The Purple Line light rail project, which was one of the event's sponsors this year, put on its own art exhibit: renderings of the public art installations that will be found at the line's Montgomery County stations when they open later this decade, and a cool rendering of a train arriving at the downtown Bethesda station.
