RAMPAGING BURGLARS STRIKE AGAIN IN WEST BETHESDA!

14th Incident in One Week,
9th Breaking and Entering Burglary
Since May 4

Another Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row Exclusive!!!

Well, when I said to check back here for updates, I'd hoped it would have been good news, such as an arrest.

Incredibly, the latest story in the West Bethesda crime spree is... another crime!

The burglar(s) struck yet again on Thursday, according to data from SpotCrime, which obtains crime reports directly from a Montgomery County Police feed.

Their target this time was in the 5000 block of Brookdale Road in Bethesda. True to form, the burglary took place just a block from one of four homes broken into the previous day, on Keokuk Street.

With the exception of burglaries on Westbard Avenue and Wilson Lane, all incidents have been in the Green Acres area off River Road.

I am shocked that there has been no announcement from local officials or the police department about this crime wave.  With over a dozen incidents in less than 7 days, I don't think you can refer to it as anything other than a rampage.  Consider that there has not been a similar wave of breaking and entering on the DC side of Western Avenue, and you'll realize just how odd and unusual this is for Bethesda.

You can't have this many incidents in a small area, and not recognize it is the same parties responsible for all of them.  This is an organized effort, and a bold effort.  They are hitting the same community again and again.

If the police could release details of these crimes, it might assist the community in helping to catch these thieves.  Think about it.  If they keep striking the same area, that means they are around there every day, either casing houses or breaking into them.

As I've said, if you live in the area west of downtown Bethesda and Friendship Heights, and east of Wilson Lane, be aware that a burglary ring is apparently operating there as recently as Thursday.  Lock doors, windows and car doors.  Report suspicious persons and activities to the police, and write down tag numbers of suspicious vehicles that don't have any clear business in the area.

Here now is the new, complete list of reports related to this crime spree:
