Sign, flagpole installed at new Bethesda 2nd District police station (Photos)
The "police" sign is up on the facade of the new Montgomery County 2nd District police station on Rugby Avenue, and so is the flagpole. The design remains polarizing for many, evoking a prison-bunker aesthetic that is incongruous with the transforming mixed-use neighborhood rising around it.

I agree, but it's a police station, not a luxury hotel. A more attractive design would have surely costed more taxpayer dollars.

That big blank wall shown in the fourth picture, faces the County parking garage. Not a big deal.
The facade facing Rugby Avenue is about 60-75% glass.
This was a curious design choice given that the whole area around it is being redeveloped for more residential.
It's literally a cinder block box with three flag poles.
The little gravel lot that I used to park in has grown up.
Happy the Council has given police a better HQ which they deserve. Good work!!!
