Another pickpocket incident at Trader Joe's in Bethesda

A pickpocket struck again at a downtown Bethesda grocery store yesterday, November 8, 2021, this time at Trader Joe's at 6831 Wisconsin Avenue. The suspect took the female victim's wallet out of her purse.

Suspect entering Bethesda Row
Apple Store

Later, at 4:20 PM, the suspect entered the Bethesda Row Apple Store and attempted to use the victim's credit card to make thousands of dollars in purchases. The suspect remains at large, but was captured in surveillance footage at both stores. A wallet was stolen last Thursday at the Bethesda Row Giant, so be alert while shopping!

These types of crimes are some of the most annoying. It happens a lot in European tourist areas. Another reason to stop badmouthing, and talking of defunding, the police.

@6:50AM Please enlighten us as to how the police can prevent this type of crime, I'm sure all of the DMV would like to know. Purse thefts are the problem of inattentive, absent-minded, shoppers, and no increase in police patrols will deter them. BTW, high-season for these cretins is just around the corner. BEWARE! BE VERY AWARE!

Everyone be careful out there.

What, exactly, could a police officer do to stop such crimes?

No, Europe has actual pickpockets. This is just someone lazily leaving their purse unattended. No one talks about defunding the police in MoCo except for the people who love triggering themselves about defunding the police.

The NEW location up the street at 8001 Woodmont should be a bit safer and more secure when it opens.
