Tobacco Hub opens in downtown Bethesda

The great smoke shop swap has taken place at 7814 Old Georgetown Road. Gone is Funky Piece. In its place is Tobacco Hub, now celebrating its grand opening. The shop advertises cigars, vaping, kratom and CBD products as its specialties. Look for Tobacco Hub between Aden Pizzeria and Banana Leaves Asian Cafe.

What Bethesda is really lacking is a decent Hookah bar. SS has a few, maybe we'll get lucky and get one or two of our own soon!

These places are awful. Sorry but they really do bring down the neighborhood. They look like crap from the street driving by. And how many people want a vape shop? Or, more troubling, these are modern day head shops. Vaping and pot smoking, though both legal, are horrible for your health pot obviously way more so. Stupid politicians here and everywhere are legalizing pot and now study after study reveals how horrific pot smoking is.. We now have to smell the stink everywhere. This will be closed within months.

The will test the ability of the residents to walk and chew at the same time.

I hope you are joking. Bethesda needs to kick these tobacco, vape, piercing, and tatoo places to the curb. It’s the decay of our society.

Walked by there a few weeks ago and the "proprietor" was sweeping what I initially thought was leaves, but it was glass from his smashed front door which was propped up horizontally on the sidewalk.

JAC, with all due respect, certainly you've heard "Build it and they will come." Which retail industry will be the one to put Bethesda on the same track as SS? Are there vape/paraphernalia shops in our sister city in South Rockville yet?

8:20: According to our top legal eagle "We'll not lose Silver Spring!"
So I suppose Bethesda is up for grabs. . .

The last thing Bethesda needs is another smoke shop. They are all selling the same illegal products. Flavored disposable vapes. My kid is hooked on them. MD officials please enforce the laws you enact! Oh wait, why would I expect anything else but typical government incompetency?

2:43 - I'm actually not entirely sure what your point is.

The last thing we want to do, when we are up to our necks in alligators, is to burden our elected officials we mundane tasks. They have more lofty agendas such as attending public events, photo ups and exchanging high fives.

LOL @ parents that can't teach their kids the dangers of vaping.

How many smoke shops does the Bethesda area need? They're all empty all of the time and they're all peddling the same crap at the same price.

There's literally one right across the street that is empty the majority of the time, these people overestimate the foot traffic they'll get.

That said, "These places are awful. Sorry but they really do bring down the neighborhood" is a bit of an overstatement considering the neighborhood is already going to shit. Have you looked at the lack of foot traffic in the area once you remove the doordashers idling their cars all day long?

Bethesda is becoming a running joke with a psychic moving in, more smoke shops, and zero foot traffic

9:09 - Well, since you quoted my comment, I'll disagree slightly that it's going to s**t. There are million plus condos on every corner, nice shops and decent restaurants. Could that area benefit from much better shops and restaurants, sure. But on measure, it's a pretty nice commercial area. I'd much prefer smaller and smarter growth but still. The modern day head shops are silly and do bring the neighborhood down but landlords take anyone who can pay which is what people who lease space do. Question is, how can they pay? They don't have any foot traffic I agree there. You know how much crap they have to sell every day just to make rent? Tons. The
draconian lockdowns here and many places have not helped a few years post Covid. Fancy office buildings are still empty for the most part and that doesn't help.
