The Corner Slice has permanently closed at 7901 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda. It had been dark for a couple of weeks, but sporadic closures have been as much a part of the pizzeria's M.O. as New York-style pizza by-the-slice in recent times. A reader bumped into an employee who informed him that The Corner Slice was no more. The closure was confirmed last night when an Out-of-Business sign was posted on the restaurant's door. It's a sad day for pizza lovers in Bethesda, even as they celebrate the arrival of highly-rated competitors like Andy's Pizza and AP Pizza Shop.

Good riddance! Like almost out of a comedy sketch one time the guy there pulled a slice out if the oven for me with his hands (after handling money) wanted me to just take it out of his hands no box, plate, napkins, nothing. He said to me "the heat kills everything"! No joke! Adios!
I really liked their pizza. I did my own match up between their pizza and Andy's. I liked theirs better. The sauce was interesting. They had uneven counter help though.

My friend who grew up in Queens considered Corner Slice to be the best NY-style pizza in the area.
Finally. Worst place maybe in all of that part of Bethesda. No one mourns this loss even likely their owners. Absolutely awful food. It was never, ever busy so how in the world did they stay open this long?
"A sad day"? Pleaze, that stuff was the worse thing to call pizza ever. I don't know how they managed to stay in business this long. When I was in college and later, it was the stuff you'd try after bar crawling, because nothing else was available cheap. You never saw a line, and hardly anyone was there at other times. Nothing lost, lots to gain.
Oh God...pray another pizza shop takes over the space. Otherwise we'll have another smoke shop or tattoo parlor.

They made a GREAT slice of pizza and will be missed. Not sure why didn’t have better and more consistent hours.
so many closures. corner slice lasted longer than many others. most new bethesda businesses are popups whether they realize it or not.

As a native to NJ, their pizza was always reminiscent of home. I mourn this loss and hope the owners do well in other endeavors. They had the best pizza in the DMV
Typical leftist bethesda snobbery. Some folks can't afford the $100 dinners you enjoy every evening. Happy for you to pay for my next slice though ;-P

I didn't bother keeping that other conversation going, but I will once again say you are a negative blowhard and you don't speak for everyone.
I still don't hate you, but I do think you are an obnoxious blowhard, and that's why you draw so much ire.
It was good pizza, the place wasn't run well from my personal experience. Getting a slice there felt like a drug deal, and the place wasn't well kept. As a former NY'er, italian food in general, and pizza specifically, in Bethesda is nowhere close to good. But, they did it pretty well. In my opinion, much better than the places that also do greek, indian, and whatever foods. Focus on one thing and do it well. Looking at you M&N, Olga's, etc.
Good NY/NJ slice. AP pizza is average. The fact you can't order but 12 inch pie at dinner and an 18 inch for lunch, they are dead to all NJ and NY transplants who know pizza. They don't. RIP corner slice!

Methinks you might have other issues with JAC that you're unable to factually dispute. Additionally, you should be less sensitive to anyone's opinion: when one is postulatong they are, by definition, speaking for themselves. Lighten up, Francis. You're only speaking for your puny self.

We lament our slow destruction and are frustrated by our neighbors' inability in seeing it and thwarting it. Most all of our legislative and administrative mistakes are, absolutely were, foreseeable. We knew all this was going to happen.

Although their sanitary discipline was challenged the pizza was very good, I lived in Manhattan and LI for years and know good pie.
NY transport here. That was solid NY pizza. It wouldn’t be the best but would surely keep itself busy in a NY neighborhood. I ate there often especially at lunch from the office . I will miss it dearly

What niche ?
The Corner Slice used to be fantastic New York pizza. It definitely slipped over the past five years or so, but still turned out good pies. I'm sad to see it go, and hate the fact that there doesn't seem to be any other good by-the-slice or New York style place nearby. I guess I'll have to check out Potomac Pizza.
Probably haven’t been in the last 4-5 years (kids older, new pizza places moved in) but always thought it was solid NY style pie and am sad to see to see it go
