Wang Dynasty has closed at 4929 Bethesda Avenue. The Chinese restaurant's last night was Saturday. It opened here in May of 2019, replacing Shanghai Village. Exiting at the end of May suggests the lease was up, but six years - and surviving the pandemic - was a strong run for a restaurant in downtown Bethesda.

The last vestige of an area that was once full of light industrial businesses. Not all that long ago, on the opposite corner, stood Maloney Concrete. On the other Bethesda Ave corner, was Sportsman Center where you could buy everything from a baseball glove to a shotgun. Those were the days. That entire block can go and eventually will. Every restaurant on that block is awful. Fresh Baguette, not a restaurant, is good. Ok, Butcher's Alley can also stay. But Organic Butcher is better on Old Georgetown.
Worst egg roll I ever put in my mouth.
I'm sorry to see this. That was one of our go-to places through the pandemic, and after.
The sign on the door said they were retiring.
Maloney Concrete the blogger is even gone.
The end of a... dynasty!
If you are going to an authentic Chinese restaurant to buy an egg roll then that’s your own fault.
I'm really sorry to hear this. Wang Dynasty was one of the best restaurants Bethesda has had in the almost 40 years I've been here. They served authentic Taiwanese cuisine, along with American Chinese standards, and the best noodles imaginable. Their previous restaurant was a noodle house in Rockville, and their fans followed them here. I wish them a happy retirement.
