Tacombi Bethesda collaborates with Chef Ashish Alfred on limited-time Chicken Tikka Masala taco

Restaurateur and chef Ashish Alfred has successfully fused Indian flavors with burgers and fries at his new Good Ducking Burger at 7929 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda. Why not tacos next? Alfred has collaborated with Tacombi chef Carmen Miranda to create a Chicken Tikka Masala taco, which will be available only at the Bethesda Tacombi location at 4749 Bethesda Avenue from the evening of October 26 until Thanksgiving 2023.

The fusion taco will present a Vista Hermosa corn tortilla loaded with garam masala, ginger, and butter chicken sauce, topped with cotija cheese. "This partnership is an example of how both Tacombi and The Alfred Restaurant Group are committed to the people, neighborhoods, and organizations that have and continue to support them, and are now bringing something new and exciting to the community of Bethesda," Tacombi said in a statement this morning.

Good Ducking Burger opens in Bethesda

Good Ducking Burger
has opened at 7929 Norfolk Avenue in downtown Bethesda. The casual Indian-inspired burger bistro from chef-owner Ashish Alfred replaces his award-winning Duck Duck Goose in the Woodmont Triangle space. Delivery is available from UberEats. Alfred's growing collection of restaurants in the D.C. and Baltimore areas has landed him on the cover of Baltimore Magazine's October 2023 Taste Makers issue.

Update on Good Ducking Burger in Bethesda (Photos)

Permanent logos have been applied to the windows of Good Ducking Burger, opening soon at 7929 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda. They include the name of the restaurant, a duck graphic, and the dining concept of "smash burger meet Indian street food" sandwiched between two hamburger buns. The switch from the award-winning Duck Duck Goose to the new burger concept by chef-owner Ashish Alfred has been met with a largely favorable response by residents on social media.

Good Ducking Burger "coming soon" to Bethesda (Photos)

Duck Duck Goose has been closed in recent days at 7929 Norfolk Avenue in downtown Bethesda. But award-winning chef and owner Ashish Alfred isn't giving up on the space, just changing concepts. "Coming soon" window screens have been posted there today, promising the imminent arrival of Good Ducking Burger. You might say, "Not another burger place!" But Good Ducking Burger is not going to be the typical burger joint.

The signage characterizes Good Ducking Burger as the place "where classic smash burgers meet a tantalizing infusion of Indian street food flavors." This sounds like it could be the hamburger equivalent of the wonderful M&N's Pizza on Del Ray Avenue, which serves pizzas with Indian and Asian flavors.

According to Uber Eats, the most popular item at Good Ducking Burger in Baltimore is the Bollywood Fries with green curry and tamarind chutney. Second most-popular is the Delhi Hot Fried Chicken. And let's not forget the burgers -  - third most-popular is the Basic Ducking Burger. Also on the menu: Spicy Cheeto Fries, a Truffle Butter Burger, the Walks Like A Duck Burger with pulled duck confit and "BBQ duck jus," and the Pato Del Sur Burger with fried plantains, Russian dressing, and a sunny-side-up egg.

For those still seeking their favorite Duck Duck Goose dishes, the Dupont Circle location is a Red Line train ride away. But for this location, burger travels to far more distant international destinations are now ahead.

Duck Duck Goose reopens in downtown Bethesda

Duck Duck Goose has reopened at 7929 Norfolk Avenue in Bethesda. Chef-owner Ashish Alfred closed the award-winning French restaurant in mid-July to allow his employees to be tested for Covid-19. It's my understanding that the Baltimore location of Duck Duck Goose has also reopened.
