Duck Duck Goose applies for liquor license in Bethesda (Photos)

Duck Duck Goose, a French small plates brasserie opening in the former Brasserie Monte Carlo space on Norfolk Avenue, has applied for its liquor license. They've already begun giving the building a makeover, most noticeably a darker exterior paint.

The restaurant is the next venture from 4935 Bar and Kitchen's owner and executive chef Ashish Alfred. Duck Duck Goose is expected to open next month.

How is 4935 doing? I never hear of people going there, but maybe they make the big money on renting their banquet hall for events.

4935 seems pretty busy at night. The name of DDG is not good, but what they have done so far appears to be good. I hope this works out.

I hope it works out too. Too many empty retail spaces with Greenhill, FRIT, Douglas, and Spotluck signs highlighting the moribund montgomery county economy and failed nighttime task force initiative.

Too many moribund council members as well, just filling a seat.
If you've been serving 8-12 years and haven't accomplished what you set out to do, please move on!

@9:04 AM Exactly.

Said this when this was announced, this place will be another Bethesda failure. Why? Stupid name for one. The people that own this run the most horrible place I've ever seen, 4935. Another dumb name too by the way. They aren't French and have no idea what they're doing. Who wants French anyway? Not many people. And if you do, there's an authentic French restaurant a block away that's been in business for over 25 years.

Yeah I am on the fence about the name. I was very surprised recently to learn this place is owned by the same owners of 4935. In the 27 years I have lived in Bethesda I have been to 4935 once. That was for a happy hour party five years ago. I didn't get any food when I was there and I have been curious to try it. However, for some reason my wife will not go there for any reason. She has never even been there and says that she can tell "it’s bad" from the outside. So we will see how this place turns out? I might not tell her who the owners are and see if she gets the same “feeling”?!

Spotluck. 10% off. Would rather support the local business by giving them that 10%. Can't decide where to go? How indecisive are you? Ha.

@7:38 Decisive enough to know not to use Spotluck!

The name is great, it looks nice with the paint, now it just needs to be good.

I'm with 1:24 on the small plates. Enough.

I think it's a fun name. Might have worked better in a more hipster DC locale. But it's playful.

Yeah how indecisive do you have to be to base your eating decision on an app?

We still flip a coin.

Whats all the beef with Spotluck? I like it and use it all the time...

It's just not worth 10%. Especially how Spotluck touts supporting local theme. we shouldn't be using a coupon then if we really want to support local. And the random one is a higher discount sure, but who is so indecisive enough they need an app to pick where they are going to eat? And based on a higher discount at that. Lol.
