More signs of Dunkin' Donuts at Bethesda Metro and Chevy Chase Lake

Local Dunkin' Donuts franchisee Luis Group Management is busy near the the first two stops of the future Purple Line. New signs have been installed at the Bethesda Metro Center store, which recently underwent a remodeling. The new signage reflects the brand's recent shortening of the name to just "Dunkin'."

Meanwhile, construction on a completely new Dunkin' Donuts is nearing completion over at the Giant gas station at 8500 Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Lake. You can see how easy it will be for residents of the new Crescent at Chevy Chase apartments right behind there, at 3929 Landmark Court, to grab a donut and coffee on their way to the Purple Line station in the morning.

Crescent at Chevy Chase construction update (Photos)

Here's a look at the latest progress at the Crescent at Chevy Chase luxury apartments at 3929 Landmark Court, off of Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Lake. The two buildings will officially open to their first residents on January 1, 2024, marking a new year at the new urban center, which is rapidly becoming populated next to the future Purple Line station there. Among the features and amenties you see rounding into shape in these photos are the rooftop deck (featuring Wi-Fi, resort hotel-style seating with a view, and an outdoor TV), a model unit kitchen, the Fitness Center (with indoor and outdoor exercise facilities, cardio, weights, an Echelon mirror, and group classes with your new neighbors), the "backyard" area, and the lobby.

The developer of the Crescent is Landmark Realty, a local firm owned and operated by the Bindeman family since 1962. Rob Bindeman is the current president. Eichberg Construction is the construction contractor. The development has been in the works since 2010, and broke ground in 2021. The Purple Line is scheduled to begin operation in 2027, but already operating across the street are an Amazon Fresh grocery store, a CVS Pharmacy, ice cream parlor The Charmery, craft beer and wine shop Uncorked, Stretchlab, and Truist Bank. For information about leasing or to schedule a tour, call 301-652-7077 or email Leasing@CrescentatChevyChase.com. Chevy Chase Lake construction update: Crescent at Chevy Chase luxury apartments (Photo)

Here's a look at the current progress on the Crescent at Chevy Chase luxury apartments at 3929 Landmark Court at Chevy Chase Lake. Workers are currently pouring the concrete columns, working from west to east on the property. To the right side of the photo, you can see column forms awaiting concrete, and the many that are finished are visible on the left side of the picture. Only a month ago, the site was just a graded empty surface, to give context for how much work has been done since.

Crescent at Chevy Chase, located right by the future Chevy Chase Lake Purple Line station, will feature studios and 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments. Amenities will include a state-of-the-art wellness studio with a weight and cardio center inside, and a fitness patio outside; co-working spaces; a club room; outdoor gathering spaces; a pet spa; an entertainment kitchen; and bicycles exclusively for use by residents.

Those bikes can be used on the adjacent Capital Crescent Trail, which connects to Silver Spring, Bethesda, and Georgetown in Washington, D.C. Across Connecticut Avenue, an Amazon Fresh grocery store is about to open, along with CVS Pharmacy, Truist Bank, The Charmery ice cream shop, restaurants Elena James and Playa Bowls, and wine shop Uncorked.

The developer of Crescent at Chevy Chase is Landmark Realty. Architectural design of the buildings is by Jon Eisen of The Eisen Group, with interior design by Bandura Design. Delivery is anticpated for the fall of 2023.

Newdale Mews demolished at Chevy Chase Lake (Photos)

The Newdale Mews apartments at Chevy Chase Lake have been demolished. It took about 2 hours per building to raze the 70-year-old complex, Landmark Realty said. The Bethesda-based development firm will build the new Crescent at Chevy Chase luxury apartments on the site, which will be on the future Purple Line light rail route. Delivery is expected in the fall of 2023.

Crescent at Chevy Chase headed to Planning Board for approval

The Crescent at Chevy Chase, a residential development proposed for Newdale Road at Chevy Chase Lake, will be reviewed by the Montgomery County Planning Board on November 17. Consisting of two four-story buildings with 135 residential units, the project will replace the existing Newdale Mews, a model suburban garden apartment complex. Two underground garages will hold 115 parking spaces.
What will be lost -
Newdale Mews
Ostensibly a transit-oriented development that will be just across Connecticut Avenue from the future Purple Line station, it's intriguing that the building heights are lower than those recently approved in the Westbard sector plan. Westbard is two miles from any Metro station, disqualifying it as a transit-oriented growth area. More proof of the incompetence of our Planning Board and County Council (Vote YES on Question B today at your assigned polling place, to impose term limits on these incompetent, impotent and corrupt councilmembers).

We are being governed by very stupid people, folks.

Planning staff is recommending approval of the project, with conditions. Construction of The Crescent will not be able to proceed until the construction of the Purple Line begins.
