AMERICAN EXPRESS NAMES BETHESDA'S ANGLO DUTCH POOLS & TOYS A MEMBER FAVORITE

American Express cardholders in Bethesda like Anglo Dutch Pools and Toys. A lot. The legendary credit card has just named the store a Member Favorite.

The company says it determines Member Favorites by the amount cardholders spend at a particular business, how many make repeat purchases there, and how often they shop there. Businesses are sorted into peer groups, meaning that Anglo Dutch was the top retailer in its category. American Express currently selects Member Favorites in the restaurant, retail and service industries, in markets that have at least 1 million cardholders.

If you shop at Anglo Dutch and want to show your support for this independent, locally-owned business, you can comment on Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #MemberFave.

Anglo Dutch is located in the Westwood Shopping Center, at 5460 Westbard Avenue, where it opened in 1985.

That's an odd choice of photo.

It doesn't show the business featured in the article, at all.

7:54: It shows the shopping center entrance. Stop being an armchair critic. What are you doing to help local businesses?

I believe that this is called "phoning it in".

Well, given that you've covered this business more than once, then maybe you could make the effort to take "your picture" with "your camera" and provide a picture that actually features the business, rather than one that faces directly away from said business and randomly looks out to a gas station across the street.

6:17: Great advice. It's my photo I took myself. In contrast, when other websites use Google Maps images and other people's Flickr photos, is that "phoning it in?" You know, rather than taking "their camera," and "making the effort," is that phoning it in?
