Car stolen in Bethesda


Montgomery County police were called to a home in the Locust Ridge area of Bethesda yesterday, after a car was stolen from the driveway outside. The vehicle was stolen in the 7600 block of Wheatcroft Court, off Landon Lane. It is believed the car was stolen sometime between 8:00 PM Monday night, and 8:45 AM Tuesday morning.

Marriott hotel interior construction scheduled to begin next month


The exteriors of the future Marriott International headquarters offices and hotel at 7750 Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Bethesda are looking more complete every week. Now it's time to start work on the interior of the hotel building. Development partners Boston Properties and The Bernstein Companies announced yesterday that the interior fit-out of the hotel will begin next month. Alexandria-based rand* construction is the contractor for the hotel interior fit-out, they confirmed.


This week, a construction hoist will be removed from the building exterior. Hardscape work is underway on Woodmont and Norfolk Avenues near Tastee Diner. A new crosswalk will be installed near Bethesda Place to extend across to the Woodmont Corner parking garage that Marriott employees will take over during business hours.

Bowlero reopens in Bethesda


With the loosening of capacity restrictions in Montgomery County, Bowlero has reopened at 5353 Westbard Avenue in Bethesda. Please note that Bowlero is not open on Mondays and Tuesdays under its current operating hours. The bowling center has implemented new Covid-19 protocols, including limiting the number of people per bowling lane to six, disinfecting bowling balls and shoes, and removing some furniture to allow for social distancing.

Car stolen in Friendship Heights


Montgomery County police responded to a report of a stolen car in the Village of Friendship Heights yesterday morning. The vehicle taken was parked along the street in the 5500 block of The Hills Plaza. It was reported stolen around 11:00 AM Monday morning.

New Bethesda Starbucks construction update (Photos)


Construction on the new Starbucks at 7200 Wisconsin Avenue is still in the very early stages. An existing location across Bethesda Avenue from this spot is likely to close in the future when that site is redeveloped as a high-rise.






Chevy Chase Lake construction update (Photos)


Here's a look at the major progress in the construction at Chevy Chase Lake along Connecticut Avenue, A Purple Line station is a part of the development. The redevelopment of several commercial properties includes several new residential buildings with ground floor retail and dining space.

Robbery reported in downtown Bethesda


Montgomery County police responded to a report of a robbery in downtown Bethesda Friday night. The robbery was reported along the street in the 7100 block of Arlington Road around 7:44 PM, according to crime data. No further details have been released by police as of this writing.

Crane work closes Montgomery Avenue at Avocet Tower construction site; overnight lane closures through April (Photos)


Montgomery Avenue temporarily closed to traffic yesterday afternoon so that a crane could be used at the adjacent construction site of Avocet Tower. As I reported last week, expect lane and road closures there through Monday. There could be additional lane closures between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM through April there, for installation of new duct banks for telecom and fiber services that will cross underneath Montgomery to Avocet Tower.
